Aeropostale guy stepped forward and handed the lady a twenty and then ordered another pretzel. My brother turned to me and mouthed "Is that the guy from Aeropostale?!" I nodded slowly.
The guy turned around with our order in his hands.
"Mind if I sit with the two of you?" He said with a smile.
I looked down and stepped behind Joey.
"Yeah, sure dude, thanks for picking up our bill." Joey said cheerfully.
"Cool!" The guy replied.
"I have to go wash my hands." I mumbled and booked it to the bathroom.
I locked the door and looked in the mirror. My hair had calmed a small bit but I couldn't change the stains on my shirt.
I finger-combed my hair, and washed my face. I studied my appearance. I had blonde hair and green-grey eyes. But no freckles. Unlike my perfect brother, why can't I be like him? He is so confident And tall. And I'm only five foot even, and twenty-two! Joey is 6'3 and eighteen! Life is unfair.

I opened the door and started back towards our table. I saw Aeropostale Dude and Joey deep in conversation, most likely about some stupid guy thing. As I got closer, Aeropostale looked up at me and smiled. I sat down and grabbed my pretzel.
"Maggie?"
I looked up, "yes?"
Joey looked at me as if warning me with his eyes, not be a bitch. To bad it's my personality.
"Yes?" I repeated
"This is Jc, Maggie." Joey explained to me.
I forced a smile and waved at Aeropostale. He stuck out his hand, "hi, Maggie."
I grabbed his hand and shook it from across the table.
"Yeah... sorry about freaking you out in that store" he said while he scratched the back of his neck and bit his lip.
"It's fine" I whispered, not looking up
I could feel my checks flooding with blush, I wish I had listened to Joey and dressed up a little bit.
"Well we better get going", Joey concluded after several long minutes of chatter between the boys.
I grabbed a pen from my bag and wrote my number in a napkin, and slid it towards Jc.
He looked down at the number and then studied my face as I stood up. As if he was trying to figure me out. "Good luck" I thought to myself. We were halfway out of the food court when I looked back at Jc and winked.
A smile filled his face, and he waved enthusiastically. "Maybe California will work out" I thought with a small smile.
