I could never believe you were gone,
That your life ended so soon,
So young and emanating light.
My memory of you exists in snapshots,
Not physical photographs but none the less I can feel them,
As tangible as a Polaroid straight out of the camera,
So close I can remember your smile catching the light ,
And sparkling across rooms.
You were the rainbow after my storms,
But your storms were too strong,
Wind carrying you away to God,
Or whomever takes care of you now.
I know you're up there,
Watching over me,
Singing to me as a member of the choir of angels,
And some days I can hear you.
Those are the best days,
Because the quiet days are chaos.
One day we'll be dancing together again,
Smiles wide and close together.
Until then, I'll keep looking at these memories,
And listening for the melodies.
