Chapter 4: A Duel With Riddle

Author's Note:

So I am going to be changing the tense in the story.I think it would be better in past tense.I am not going to change the first 3 chapters yet.

Previously:

And I walk out of the class with a new spring in my step.

||Y/N's P.O.V||

After eating lunch I made my way towards the courtyard.I stopped walking when I heard a voice .I sneaked towards the voice making sure not to make any noise.When I peeked from the wall,I saw none other than Riddle .Why do I keep running into him?.Anyways, he was talking to or more like hissing at Malfoy who was cowering in a corner.Maybe I would be able to figure out what Riddle is up to if I listen in on the conversation.

"-instead of the one you got.How can you make such a mistake!?"Riddle hissed at Malfoy.  I feel bad for him.No one deserves Riddle's wrath.

"M-my Lord I-"Malfoy tried to say something but Riddle cut him off.

"Go away from my sight. I will deal with you later."Riddle seethed.Malfoy scampered away.

"Hey Y/N what are you doing?"A voice behind me startled me.

"EEK!"I squeaked and turned around just to see Euphemia- alright fine Mia and Ara.

"Oh Mia! W-what are you d-doing here?"Damn my muttering.

"You were supposed to meet us in the courtyard,remember? Were you spying on someone?Ooh do you have a crush?"She said the last words in a whisper.

Oh no.Riddle would have heard my name.I AM GONNA DIE!!!Ok calm down.You are not dying. Yet.

I looked towards the hallway where Riddle was standing before and it was empty.Well I am safe for now.Why am I scared of him now?I mean I wasn't earlier-

"Earth to Y/N!"Mia said snappin me out of my thoughts.

"Yes?"I asked innocently.

"What were you doing here?"She said getting a bit suspicious.

"Were you looking out for Nargles? If you were, you shouldn't worry.They are usually hidden in mistletoes. "Ara said in a matter of fact tone sounding a bit like Hermione .Thanks for the save.

"Right thanks for the fact Ara."And the subject changed.Yay for that.I really needed to stop thinking about Riddle killing me in my sleep.

-In the next class,which is DADA ( finally!) and we have it with Gryffindors-

"I am boooored."I drawled lazily.

"Shush or Merrythought will here you."Mia said in a whisper.

"Who's that?"I asked looking around. There was no Professor in sight. Not even an animagus.

"She is the DADA Professor and let me tell you.She only has one favourite student.She will literary give you detention for breathing if you went against him."

"Don't tell me the student is who I think it is."I said even though I knew it was him for sure.

"Fine I won't tell you."She said and turned towards the front.

I sighed and waited for the professor to come.

"Oh hello students.Sorry I was late.Today I thought we should do something more fun.So we are going to duel.And I will be putting you in pairs."She said enthusiastically with her squeaky voice.Okay I just got a headache.

-After pairing everyone except me and riddle-

Oh no I know where this is going....Well I am doomed.

"And lastly let's see how Miss Frost,the new transfer,will do against Tom Riddle,the best student in this class."What does she have against me?

I groaned and looked towards Riddle.He had a smirk on his face.This is not going to be good...

Everyone stood in front of their partner.I gulped.Why was my heart beating this fast!? I should calm down.I can do this.I mean I probably know more spells than him....right?And why does Riddle have to look so so ...what's the word? oh right Voldy-ish.Maybe because he wants to kill me or maybe because he IS VOLDEMORT......It could be both...Who am I kidding? It IS both.

We both bowed to each other and all hell broke loose.I started with a simple tickling charm just to know how far would Riddle go.

RICTUSEMPRA!

Riddle deflected it easily with a Protego.

IMPEDIMENTA!

I moved out of the way of the spell.Oh so he is also taking it slow for now.

PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!

He deflected it with a non-verbal shield charm and threw a spell with red sparks at me.It hit my left arm and let me tell you,the pain was too much.I needed to start doing something quick.I didn't want to lose.

When I was thinking,he threw another spell at me though I missed it by an inch.I also sent a non-verbal spell at him.And well that's when actual hell broke loose.We both started firing spells at each other and only stopped when we heard Merrythought shrieking.I looked around and..well..It looked like a whole mess.Well mostly on our side.And all the other students were staring at us.Oops did I go overboard?

"It was supposed to be a friendly duel Miss Frost.Detention tomorrow."Wait what?Why only me?-

"Mister Riddle was only defending himself.Now not one more word.Class is dismissed."Oh I said that out loud- Oops.I looked over at Riddle and he had a smirk on his face.Oh how I wish to wipe that smirk off his face.

Author's Note:

There isn't much known about Merrythought so..Yeah I think she would be like this. And I feel like this chapter is short.I don't know really.And not much happened in this chapter.I will try making the next chapter longer.
