Wiping away the tear that rolled down the side of his pointed nose, James laid on his bed staring up at the ceiling with the t-shirt and jeans he had been wearing from three days ago still on him. The ticking sound of the clock was the only thing reminding him that he was still alive, even his heartbeat was no longer beating the same or maybe he had just bitten more than he could chew and was searching through the branches for something that could only be possessed by the roots.
There was that bitterness that'd set and rested in his system, he hated life, he hated himself and most of all he hated the fact that he was still breathing.
He turned his head sideways, staring at the white clock that was still hanging up on the wall -- staring back flat at him. Seeing how carefree the time was, has it had a guarantee of an infinity life, moving from one vessel to the next. Whispering the evolution of time to all eyes that sets on it. It was 5:30am in the morning and he needed to start moving his remaining stuff out of his rented apartment.
After having discussed his departure from his new pack with Andrew, he still needed to talk to Dam but he knew in his heart that his Pride will forever be his home as that was where he was raised and bred up to the man that he was, if there was anything that still causes a change in the fluctuations his beating heart was descending; it was the longing he had to be home, there was truly no place like home, the scent of your people and familiarity with everything that births the land into you.
He rose up into a sitting position, peeling the blanket off his body the moment his feet touched the ground, so melancholy, he folded the blanket in a way that he was able to carry it, placing it back on his bed. He gritted his teeth together hating the feeling of having to leave the pack he had always wanted to start anew in.
His eyes roamed through the room fearlessly. The small dark green couch that stayed staring at him from the corner right opposite him pierced through his heart as memories flashed through him. He would lay on it while reading through stuff for his residency, a chair he would sit, read and eat in. It was the only chair in his room yet it gave him more comfort that any other thing in that Pack much so that he would sometimes wake up curled in the arms of the chair.
He wasn't as rich as Victoria was, so every penny he got he had to save, which wasn't much after the student loan had taken their bit and he was left with a few hundreds in his bank, enough to only pay rent, buy a reasonable amount of food and save for rainy days then that was it. His parents were still working so they weren't depending on him as of yet.
He breathed in sharply as he touched the surface of the couch, huffing, he felt the tears push against his sight. Slowly he came down unto the arm of the couch, shivering in a tired mess that he had no control over... He held his head in his hands as tears he had held back -- because he wasn't weak -- cascaded down his face. As he lets the tears flow, not minding the fact that he was an adult and only kids were allowed to cry.
At this point of his life, he truly did miss his best friend. The jovial and threatening moments he shared with her. Victoria was all his beast could whisper to him after the torture he'd had to go through. He pulled himself up, wiping away his tears as he reached up for the clock, taking it to the bed with a deep frown on his face.
He had packed all his essentials into his car so all he needed was the blanket and himself then he would be on the way to his salvation. He hated to leave the pack without completing his residency but there was nothing he could do... His mate had rejected him and there was nothing he could've done to change her mind. He tried! Buying her flowers with apology notes, going to her work place with his knee on the ground and a ring in his hand hoping she'd say yes to him, possibly forget about their first encounter, what he'd said to her.
