Chapter 11

"Excellent Jade,,you aced it. so proud of you" Mr.David praises me while giving me my exam's paper.

I smile and nod. Thank you Mr.David"

When I look at Dan beside me he gives me thumbs up and a wide smile.

"Good job!" He whispers. I give him a proud smile.

"Ok class, you're dismissed" Mr.David announces and gathers his papers then leaves the room.

"I'm so hungry" Dan groals. "Let's go to have lunch" he tells me.
"Yepp. let's go". We start to walk to our lockers to put our books. After we put them we went to have lunch.

"Hey Nina. Hi Alex" Me and Dan say while putting our trays on the the table and sitting with them.

"Hii!" They reply both in the same time.

"So , how you doing?" I ask them.
"We're doing fine. Today he'll come with me to my house to study physics"she looks at Alex.

"Oh. That's boring" I say and all of us laugh.

Dan and Alex start to talk about football or something. Me and Nina roll our eyes at their manly subject.

"What do you think if we have a sleepover this weekend?" Nina suggests

"Yeah , why not" I smile at her.
"Girls what are you talking about?" Dan says and puts his arm over my shoulers.

"Nothing, we decided to have a sleepover" I look at him.

"Can me and Alex come?" Alex chuckles and Dan has a mischievious smile on his face. I narrow my eyes at him.

"Of course no!!" I glare at him playfully.
"Ok" he pouts. And I laugh and shake my head. When I turn my head I see Alex and Nina kissing. I clear my throat.

"I think you should get a room" I try to hide my smile.
Nina blushes and looks down. And I see Alex grinning. The bell rings and we stand up and go to our classes.

I open the front door to my house and enter. Its Wednesday so my mom comes early today.

"Mom!! I'm home" I call and put my bag near the stairs.

"Mom!" I call again but no reply. I go to the kitchen and see her laying on the ground.

"OH MY GOD!! Mom!!" I yell walking towards her and sitting near her. I hold her hands and feel her pusle.
Thank god she's alive.

"What happend , what should I do" I start to cry not knowing what to do. I hear the front door opens and I freak out. It's Carla.

"Hey m.." She stops and her eyes widen.

"Omg what happend" she almost screams.

"I dont know. But don't freakout ok? We'll figure it out. I'm gonna call 911 and everything will be ok. Dont cry" I tell her.

I rush and take my phone and call 911. I try to stop my tears but fail.

"Carla , love dont be scared ok? " I hold her and she sobs.

"Come on , help me to take mom to the living room."

After few minutes the ambulance came and took mom and us to the hospital.

They took mom to the ER. And me and Carla were waiting in the corridor. I hug her and we both cry. But I have to be stronger for mom and for Carla.
"Hey , look at me" I hold ber face in my hands. Her tears are streaming down her face. And I wipe them away.

"Don't cry . She'll be ok" I smile at her and she nods.

"I'll call Dan and Nina, i'll be right back" she nods her head. I call them and they say the'll come right away.
When I hung up the phone I See the doctors coming out from ER. I rush toward them.

"What happened?" I ask them trying to hold my tears back.

The head doctor sighs in exhaustion.
"She's ok now. But.." He stops for a few seconds

"But??" I rush him.
"But. unfortunately, she has hepatitis D" my jaw hit the floor in surprise.

"Carla. I need you to go sit on those seats , Dan and Nina will be here in any minute" I dont want her to hear what the doctor is about to say.

"But Jade I wanna know what's going on" she wines.
"Carla please , listen to me" she nods and walks away.

I turn my to face the doctor.
"It can be cured right?" I ask hope is clear in my voice.

"I'm afriad not. Its very developed and we cant do anything in this stage"

"But I can give her my liver"

"No you can't. You're not eigheen yet, plus it won't help her"

The tears start to fall and I can't hold them back anymore.

"There must be something we can do , I can't just stand and let her die infront of me" I try not to raise my voice.

"There's a treatment. But the percentage of healing is 20% and it won't work for her"

"How much time?" I ask him.
"Month , maybe less".

"Oh my god. How could I not see any symptoms" I ask the doctor and myself.

"Well, sometimes no symptoms apear on the patient".

"I'm sorry Jade." He looks at me with sadness in his eyes. I nod.

I look back and I see Dan and Nina standing next to Carla. When I look at Dan our eyes meet and he immediately comes to where i'm standing.

"What's wrong Jade , what happened ?" he puts his hand on around my arms and starts to move them in a soothing way.

"Dan.." I try to tell him but I start to sob. He hugs me tightly.

"Its ok , you're ok" he tries to calm me moving his hand up and down my back.

After I told him and Nina what happened. I saw the shock on their faces. Nina started to cry and Dan tried to look strong for me. I told them not to tell Carla. Until I'm ready to tell her.
I don't know what I'm going to do.
I'll turn 18 in two weeks. Carla will be with me and i'll have to be responsible for everything. I'll have to work to bring us enough money.

Mom...She won't be with us anymore. I won't see her smile again. I won't get to go out with her to the icecream shop without Carla knowing at 2.am just because we can't sleep. I won't get to fight with her about the simplest things. I won't get to go to her room and slowly make my way to her bed to sleep with her when I can't sleep at night. I won't have someone to go to when I'm broken and don't know what to do. She won't see me and Carla graduating. She won't be there to guide us to the right path when we mess up. How am I supposed to live without her. I'm not sure if I can handle it. She has been my friend my sister and my everything but she's going to leave me. Too soon.
