—————"TURN THAT FUCKING ALARM OFF, IM NOT MOVING!" The Yoongi screamed with a groaning voice as his phone continued to make noise. Jungkook just laughed, hopping out of bed as fresh as a daisy and pulling a tired girl with him.
"It's time to go! I want to show you one last thing before we leave, and I need to be back before lunch!" He passed Mi one of his larger hoodies to throw on, and did the same for his small friend. "I can't let them find out I left, but this is important to me... I havnt been back here in a while."
The two shared a sympathies look before nodding to the enthusiastic boy and packing up. Yoongi just seemed to sit there and boss as Mi tried her best to fold and stuff the bags full. It didn't take long for them to pack and soon there where walking back down a familiar street.
On the way, Jungkook would point out each house, telling a different story of how he got into trouble there or broke something. Eventually, they arrived at the place Mi and Yoongi had gestured last night. His old home.
There wasn't any fighting this time, Jungkook walked up and hit knocker to open up as if it was a thing he does everyday; or did. "Hello?" A voice called from the hall and the door swung open. "J-Jungkook?"
The tall figure looked over him, and soon snatched him into a tight hug. "I didn't release we still had the house.." the younger eyes glistened as he looked around the insides, everything seeming to be exactly the same.
"Yeah... when we moved to the city, Jiwoo's mom bought it. When I came back here a few months ago to sight see, I met her still living here a well..." His eyes flicked to the girl by his side, "You get the gist."
The three city folk where offered to stay and eat, but as Jungkook could be fire when they get back, it was best to start heading home. But first, they needed to make a small detour.
Jungkook grabbed Mi's hand and pulled her to the end of the road, where a large tree stood tall. As they got closer, there seemed to be planks at the top, making a shelf for people to sit on. Both scaled the plant and sat happily a few meters from the ground.
"This is where I came everyday after school." His hands ran over hundreds of curved words in themwalls of the hollowed out trunk. "I'd write how I was going, what I wanted to be when I was older, everything is here."
Mi's eyes scanned through, seeing silly things a boy of his age would write. 'I eat too much chocolate today' 'Mr Kim gave me four point on my maths test' 'I hate brocilli' and then one that stood out. 'I want my future wife to play games like me'
Her eyes looked soft over at the happy boy. "You were really happy as a child." Mi's eyes glistened. "You still are."
"Of course! Isn't every child happy at that age?" He pointed at some more scratches laughing, but Mi had already zoned out. She didn't even try to stop her eyes watering, her main focus was stopping herself thinking about it, about anything in the past.
"Mi-sun? Hey mi, what happened?" He rushed to hug her. "Are you hurt?"
She shook her head with a sad smile. "No, but this was lovely place. I'm glad you showed me." Her fingers traced the cut out words of 'gaming wife' ,"But I think it's time to go home..."
The boy nodded, helping her down, her face dried as they got back to the car. Yoongi was sat on the bonnet with a pruny face, so finally Jungkook unlocked the car and the small boy shuffled in. This time Jungkook drove so Yoongi could lay across both of the back seats - it was fair to say 8 hours of sleep wasn't enough for the old man.
Mi sunk down into the front seat next to Jungoook as the radio played quietly, thinking deeply about well everything. It wasn't long till they got to the half way point where a motorway service station was and she hadn't even spoken a word yet.
"Mimi?" Jungkook stopped to fuel up. "You doing okay?"
She snapped her neck sideways fully shocked. The girl was so deep in thought she had forgot Jungkook knew her entirely. "Jungkook?... oh kook.. yeah I'm just tired." He laughed at her initial panic as he got out the car and over to the petrol pump.
"Mi?" Yoongi piped up.
"I didn't know you were awake Yoongs, what up?" She turned her body round as far she could to make eye contact with his head laying down on the seat behind her.
"What's wrong? Hmm? You've been quiet since we got to Busan." His voice sounded stern like a head teachers. "Tell me. Why are you spending so much time in your head?"
The girl looked between herself and the boy outside, who was now singing as he typed in his credit card pin. "We have more differences than I thought." Her eyes look down with a heavy sigh, "He's the always smiling type."
The gramps sat up quickly, shaking his head. "No, you always knew he was like this. Even if you're like me, and you keep your emotions in and don't sing the details of your credit card while fuelling up a car, it doesn't mean you can't be with someone that is."
"I know that."
"They why are you questioning it?"
Jungkook got back into the car, making his way onto the motor way once again. The other two where even quieter than before, Mi-sun still stuck in her head. Why was she questioning it? Truthfully, it was because her childhood was messed up compared to her lover's and she never really trusted or liked anyone; including herself. But she wasn't going to tell anyone that, and refused to believe it. So instead she told herself - she wasn't good enough for him.
He was kinder, polite, strong, funny and basically every other describing word you could think of for a perfect person. And Mi wasn't. Her high school Geography teacher with a monotone voice had told Mi she was lazy, quiet and not good enough for a job in geography. Not good enough. She wasn't good enough for anything, if it wasn't Geography then what else was she not good enough for.
She wasn't good enough for him.
