medic room

Jace and Magnus rushed Ria off to the institute medical centre. They lay her on one of the many beds that ran along the walls. She looked so frail against the white sheets in her white clothes. Magnus busied himself making her comfortable and healing her. She had no wounds not a single cut, she was just exhausted, that is what Magnus had said when Jace had looked for a wound. He wouldn't leave Ria with Magnus alone. For ages Magnus worked his magic, blue sparks and flames crossing her body. He had stopped saying 'he could do no more it was all up to her now' they had sat for a while without a work. "is it true?"

"is what true, Jace." He said sounding exhausted.

"that Ria and Sebastian were friends."

"oh, yes. Much more than that they loved each other."

"why didn't you tell us?"

"you didn't know of Ria then and she wouldn't have helped us. You see Ria and Jo they were like siblings. Ria saw the good in him and he saw the good in her. They were like ying and yang and then Ria left, and Jo turned to his father for that reassurance that he needed and only got a twisted mind, Valentine turned him cruel, it did help that he had demon blood, I guess."

"why didn't you tell us about your past with him."

"I didn't know."

"how could you not know?!"

"I only remembered it now."

"how?"

"I really do not know." Magnus rubbed his eyes and looked up just as Jo and MJ came in with the others.

Jace could hear mumbles and gasps behind him but kept his eyes on Ria. He felt hands on his shoulder and knew instantly that it was Clary.

Jace stood up as Jo came into his view. He had the boy in his arms. "what the hell is he doing here." He demanded.

"I came here to see her." Jo said calmly setting the boy down. The boy turned and made Jace freeze in shock. He watched the boy run past him and over to Ria, where he got onto the bed and hugged her. Jace looked towards the Lightwoods and Clary to find their faces filled with concern and a bit of surprise.

Jace turned and looked towards the boy and Jo who were now on the bed hugging Ria. "Max."

The boy looked up and sighed saying, "why do you all keep calling me that. It isn't my name." he said standing up. "My name is M. J. it isn't a hard name to remember." Jo put his arm around MJ pulling him back onto the bed.

"don't you touch him." Jace said to Jo. "you killed him. You stay away from him." Jo looked at Jace understandingly.

"leave Jo alone."

"why doesn't he remember who he is, who we are." Angry tears pricked Jace's eyes. "what did you do!"

"I didn't do anything-

"maybe we should do this somewhere else." Magnus had appeared next to them silently. "I suggest the library, where we can tell you."

"someone needs to stay with her." Alec responded not looking at anyone.

"I will stay with her." it was MJ who spoke. His voice small but loud enough for everyone to hear. "she won't be alone." He looked towards Jo whose eyes were filled with concern, MJ looked away, "and I will do it alone."

"you will tell us if anything has changed?" Izzy asked.

"yes. I will tell Jo." Hurt flashed across Izzy's eyes before disappearing a second later. She looked towards Jo with blazing eyes of fury as they all left the room.
