Chapter 9: Kidnapped by a Death Eater

**Hermione’s Nightmare**

I was running as fast as I could through the forest glancing behind me every now and then only to see a man in dark clothing closing in on me quickly. I screamed as my foot caught on a tree root and sent me tumbling down a small decline in the land. Picking myself up I began to run again; I could hear his footsteps behind me as I desperately searched for my wand, but I couldn’t find it!

My legs were becoming tired and I knew I couldn’t run much further before I would collapse. I darted between trees calling out for anyone that could help me. From the corner of my eye I could see two figures running towards me, one with platinum blonde hair and another with dark hair. Draco and Harry!

I glanced behind me and didn’t see the man anymore. When I reached the boys I stopped completely out of breath as I fell into Draco’s arms. Before anyone could say anything there was a snap of a tree branch and I saw the man that had been chasing me step out from behind a tree.

He laughed evilly holding up his wand… I had seen that wand before but I couldn’t remember where. As he walked towards us I felt Draco’s arms tighten around me. I heard the man speak in a low raspy voice as he drew closer to us.

“Well well what do we have here? A filthy Mudblood, a blood traitor, and everyone’s favorite hero.” He sneered looking at each of us individually. He pointed his wand at Draco, “You traitor! How dare you date such filth? You are a pureblood descending from one of the most powerful families; how dare you disgrace your mother and I!?”

 My eyes grew wide as I realized this was Lucius Malfoy… he had escaped from Azkaban! I felt Draco stiffen as his father spoke to him. “Get away from that scum Draco!” Lucius hissed as he dropped the hood of his cloak to stare deathly at Draco.

“N-no” Draco stuttered pulling me back.

Lucius sneered and pointed his wand over at Harry, “Do it or nobody will see the boy wonder again!”

Harry and I paled as Draco released his hold on me and stepped away. I knew he was trying to keep everyone alive but I was even more terrified now. Lucius took hold of his sons shoulder and pulled him over to him. “Kill her!” he hissed in Draco’s ear.

I paled even more and watched as Harry reached for my hand and gave it a small squeeze trying to reassure me that we would make it out alive. I looked pleadingly at Draco who was twirling his wand in his hands trying to ignore his father.

“I SAID KILL HER DRACO!” Lucius roared pushing his son in front of me. “If you don’t, I will!” he growled nastily looking between Draco and myself.

I saw tears running down Draco’s face as he tried to keep his composure. “Crucio!” Lucius exclaimed and the curse hit me dead on making me drop to the ground and writhe in pain. I screamed as he held the curse on me.

“NO! STOP!” Draco yelled dropping to his knees beside me. “Hermione!” He whispered pulling me into his lap.

Harry started to raise his wand but Lucius expected this and cast a body binding curse on him. “Foolish child, dare you stop me when I am punishing someone!” he hissed taking aim at Draco.

“I won’t let you hurt her! I love her!” Draco exclaimed in tears as I touched his cheek. He smiled down at me lovingly, “I will always love and protect you Hermione!”

I was about to answer when I heard the two words that made my heart stop beating… “AVADA KADAVRA!”

I watched in horror as Draco’s body slumped to the ground. “NO! DRACO!”
