Meeting Mother

Mirabelle's Point Of View:

One Week Later:

My palms were sweaty.

I couldn't keep still.

I was nervous.

Evie was fetching our Mom from The Isle with a few guards.

I was waiting in Ben's office with Mal and Carlos.

Today, I am meeting my Mom for the first time.

I did know what to expect for a certain degree.

I know that she will be very vein, thinking that everything is about her, not very sympathetic.

Evie helped me with those pieces of information.

I was on my own for the rest.

That's when there is a knock at the door.

While Mal goes to open the door, Carlos comes over to me.

"Listen, just be yourself. She'll love you that way. I'll be in my room. One call and I'm here."

He says and kisses me sweetly.

I smile and nod, then watch Carlos make his way over to Mal.

"Good luck."

Mal says and I nod and watch as they open the door and exit through it.

That's when Evie enters, behind her is our Mother.

"Oh! You're so beautiful! Just like me!"

She exclaims before rushing over to me.

She pulls me into her arms and I tense up for a second, confused as to how I should react.

Finally, after seeing Evie's reassuring smile, I hug her back.

"Hi, Mom."

I say, feeling a warming, but sickening feeling in my stomach.

"I will definitely be back again. I wanna see you again. Evie can dress you up and make you all pretty like me!"

Mom gushes and I force out a smile and nod.

Then, before I know it, she is gone, back to The Isle.

I turn and see Evie.

"Geez, you weren't wrong. Is she always so self-absorbed?"

I question her as we make our way back inside.

Evie giggles and I smile at her.

"Usually, yeah. Growing up with her, you learn to ignore her."

She says and I scoff.

"Kinda like my Dad then."

I say with a chuckle and Evie laughs.

"So, not a complete bust then?"

Mal asks and I shrug, popping a fry into my mouth.

"Honestly? I'm surprised that Evie and me come from her. She's so vein!"

I say, shocked and the others laugh.

"How are you feeling?"

Carlos asks me while the others engrossed themselves in a conversation.

"Yeah, I'm alright. Glad I did it. Glad I've got you beside me."

I say with a smile and Carlos flushes red before leaning in to kiss me.

"You'll always have me beside you."

He says and I smile and lean my head onto his shoulder.

This is where I wanna be... Forever.
