20th August, YEAR 2234
The soothing warm surrounding of a small house was echoeing with laughter of a four year old girl. Her elder brother, eight year old Tristan was pulling funny faces making his younger sister giggle. Their mom, working in kitchen had her all attention toward her kids. A smile was plastered on her face, the kind of satisfying smile you can see on a mother's face when her children are happy. No music can please a mother as much as her children laugh can do.
A sudden loud bang on the door scared the kids as they stopped laughing and stared at each others face. Young girl runs to her brother and hide behind him.Lauren, their mom steps out of the kitchen and goes to open the door. The moment she pressed the password to open the door a man hurriedly rushed in huffing heavily.
"Baby You need to leave soon. Take the kids and leave. Hurry.", he said.
"But Geoff what happened?",Lauren asks, worriedly.
"Don't ask questions. Just leave.", He pushes his wife toward the kids. The kids blankly stare at their parents. Lauren rushes to her room to pick up a big bag and shove all their important belongings in the bag.
Geoff opened the drawer and took out his pistol and loaded it unaware of the fact that his daughter is watching his every move. He leans against the front door trying to refrain the terror he was going to witness soon.
"Go to your mom Jacky.", Man commands.
The little girl, not acknowledging the reason behind her father's command, stood there watching him, confused. The innocent face of his daughter melted Geoff's heart.
"Come here, Jacky.", he knelt down on the ground and opened his arms keeping aside the pistol. Jacky rushes to her dad and hugged him tightly. His sweat seeped into the plain cotton clothes of Jacky. His chapped lips places a small kiss on her forehead.
"Daddy loves you Jacky.", he says as a tear escapes his eyes. Lauren comes out of her room with Tristan but stops in the midway, her heart swelled on watching the father-daughter moment.
"Where will we go Geoff?", she asks him snapping out of the moment.
"In half an hour a train is leaving for Wolverhampton. I've bought you a flat there and I've already sent you the address on your phone. You don't need to worry about anything.",He tells them. He already had everything planned earlier because he knew that someday he'll need a new place to keep his family safe from all the danger they could face because of him.
"But why can't you come with us?", she asks.
"I can't Baby, I can't..", He sighs and hides his face in his hands. Lauren comes closer to him and kneels down beside him. The tears are already streaming down her cheeks.
"You never needed to do this.", she says softly. Instead of replying Geoff hides his face in her neck inhaling in the sweet fragrance of his wife for one last time. He knew he might never see her again. His cold lips meets the soft and warm lips of his wife and kissed them softly.
"I love you Geoff.", She whispers against his lips.
"I love you too baby. Take care of our kids."
The kids watched their parents bidding final goodbye. Geoff gestures Tristan to come close and Tristan slowly move toward him. Geoff hugs him and ruffles his hairs.
"Take care of your sister.", the small boy gently nods not completely understanding the responsibility he was handed over.
"Now you have to leave Lauren.", He says getting up from the floor. Lauren picks up the bag and takes her two kids out of the house from the back door. She put the bag in the car and picks up Jacky to make her sit in the car with Tristan who was already seated inside.
"Dada won't come with us?", she asks her mother.
"He'll meet us soon.", she lies, holding back her tears.
"You're lying.", She says and immediately leaves the car and rushes back into the house without giving her mother any time to stop her.
"Jacky come back baby. You can't go in there." Lauren yells but she don't listen. Jacky was about to reach the back door when her feet stops. Gunshots are heard from inside her house. She peeps inside from the opened back door. The dreadful sight before her was enough to torment her innocent heart. A dark figure was hovering over her dad. His face buried in her dad's neck, his sharp teeth piercing the soft human skin and sucking the last drop of life out of him. That creature throws the lifeless body on floor.
The girl stands there with her eyes wide opened watching her dad collapse in front of her. No sound, not even a single sob leaves her mouth. Soon her mother reaches her and picks her up, covering her eyes with her hand but she was too late for it as the girl has already seen enough. She runs toward her car and started the engine to leave for the station and to never turn back here again.
