Chapter 9

The sun was shining brightly in the clear blue sky. The Collins family was all out near the beach to spend some quality family time. Mrs Collins was sitting on a sheet spread out on the sand and was calling out her husband and her son for lunch. Small Jacky was sitting near her mom, her small chubby hands perfectly shaping a sand castle.

"Jacky,"Lauren called her and she turned around to look at her mom with the most innocent look in her eyes. "Honey go and call your dad and brother."

Jacky got up and cleaned off sand from her sky blue dress that matched the colour of the sky but with small white polka dots. She ran toward her dad who was instructing Tristan to swim.

"Jacky." Her dad saw her running toward him. She was completely out of breathe when she reached him. He picked her up and kissed her forehead. "Wanna learn how to swim." He asked her. Her blue eyes instantly lit up as she nodded. In that moment of excitement she forgot why she was there. Her dad put her down and shouted out to his son, "Tris, C'mere and help your Sis."

Before Jacky could step in the water; the sun was blocked out and the day turned into a dark  night like. Air around the whole beach was surrounded with thick dense fog. Tristan hurriedly got out of water and stepped closer to his dad who was now holding Jacky back in his arms.

"Geoff, where are you?", Lauren voice reached them.

"I'm here honey. Follow my voice." He shouted back. In few minutes she reached them stumbling in the foggy surrounding.

"What is going on?", she asked as soon as she reached them. The streaks of worry was spread on her entire face.

"I don't know baby. Just stay close." He said.

Before anyone of them could figure out what was going on two tall figures neared them tearing through the thick dense air. All of them were covered with black from head to toe. Hoods fell from their head covering their face. On seeing them Geoff put Jacky down. One of the two strange visitor leaped toward him and caught hold of him by his throat and dragged him away from his family who was watching this eith terrified look.

"Geoff !!" Lauren shouted and went after him but the other man caught her and blocked her from reaching her husband. She was continuously struggling and muffling to get released but the person holding her was much more powerful. The man holding Geoff released his grip and Geoff fell down on ground coughing as the visitor removed his hood. Jacky could now clearly see the face of that man. His face was paler than usual, his eyes were of fierce red colour and his upper canines were outgrowing the rest of the teeth. Jacky had never seen someone as terrifying as him. Ovrpowered by fear, her hand  reached for the edge of her mother's dress and clutched it tightly.

"Betraying me gets no forgiveness."the man said in a coarse voice and dig his ferocious teeth in Geoff's neck.

"NOOOOO.." Lauren cried out.

"Daddy."Jacky and  Tristan screamed at the top of their lung and tears streamed from Jacky's eyes. Her tears made her vision blurry and she felt like she was being pulled away from that place, away from her family, away from her DAD.

Jacqueline jolted up from her bed breathing heavily, the cotton fabric of her shirt was soaked in her sweat and was sticking to her body. Droplets of sweat trickled from her forehead that shone like crystal in the bright sunlight invading her room through the window.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to wake you up for college." Sammy apologised, feelimg guilty for shaking her so violently.

"Its alright. You don't need to be sorry. ", Jacky said after a while when she regained her breath.
