Shay's POV
"And I'm so sorry
It's not like me
It's maturity that I'm lacking
So don't, don't let me go
Just let me know that growing up goes slow."I stopped playing the piano and Joe gave me a standing ovation.
"That was amazing! This song is going to be such a hit. When would you like to work in the studio?" Joe asked giving me a hug.
"As soon as possible. I think I'm ready for everyone to hear my music." Joe's smile quickly turned into a frown.
"What about Nick?"
"What about him? This is my record." I explained.
"I know, but he should be the one producing, not me. He's so much better."
"Joe, you don't think I know that? I don't want him touching this record. This is mine, and I'll be damned if I let him ruin that for me."
"That's a little harsh don't you think? But anyways, you won't have to worry about that. He quit music." My eyes got huge and I nearly fell out of my chair.
"What do you mean he quit music?"
"I mean he sold everything. His guitars and keyboard. He's done with it all. I'm actually really worried about him. He completely changed. He's not the Nick I grew up with. He's not my brother." I placed my head down. How could this happen? I didn't mean for him to give up the one thing he loved the most. Music is his everything. Joe's right, without it he's not Nick anymore. I rubbed my hand on my forehead and sighed.
"This is the last thing he wrote. I found it in his trash before I left. It's not finished yet, but I think you should read it." I grabbed the piece of paper he took from his shirt pocket.'Would you believe me if I said I was sorry?
That question wasn't meant to hurt
It was just my fear of losing you.
Now you're filling all the space that surrounds you.
And I'll soon be tucked away underneath your bed.
Where you gave yourself to me.
Where I gave myself to you.'Tears formed in my eyes as I read it. I know what I have to do. I have to finish it for him. A song like that shouldn't be left like that. Joe rubbed my arm.
"Why don't you talk to him? He really needs to hear your voice right now."
"The only way I'm talking to him is through my music. I told you, I'm done with him. I don't want to speak or see him. I've found someone else who I'm happy with." Ryan then entered our living room.
"How's my beautiful lady doing?" He asked giving me a kiss.
"I'm doing fine Hun. Just talking to Joe about my new record."
"Oh Joe! I didn't see you there. How are you doing my man?" Joe gave him a awkward smile.
"I'm good, Shannon and I were just talking about her new record."
"Oh really? Mind if I have a listen?"
"I don't mind," I said sitting at my dark red piano Ryan bought me.
"Today I'm Gonna write a sad song,
I'm gonna make it really long
So that everyone can see,
That I'm very unhappy.I wish I wasn't always wrong
I wish it wasn't always my fault
But the finger that you're pointing
Has knocked me on my knees
And all you need to know isI'm so sorry it's not like me,
It's maturity that I'm lacking
So don't, don't let me go
Just let me know that growing up goes slowI wonder what my mom and dad would say,
If I told them that I cry each day.
But it's hard enough to live so far away.I wish I wasn't always cold
I wish I wasn't always alone
When the party is over,
How will I get home?
And all you need to know isI'm so sorry it's not like me,
It's maturity that I'm lacking
So don't, don't let me go
Just let me know that growing up goes slowIf all the rules were made to bend
And you swore you were my friend
Now I have to start all over againCause no one's going to take your place
And I'm scared I'll never save
All the pieces of a love we madeAnd I'm so sorry, it's not like me
It's maturity that I'm lacking
So don't, don't let me go
Just let me know that I can slip and fall
And you won't let me go
Just let me know that growing up goes slowAnd I'm so sorry
It's not like me
It's maturity that I'm lacking
So don't, don't let me go
Just let me know that growing up goes slow."
