"Sorry for earlier." Jamie apologised. "Honestly. It's fine." I smiled at him, before Ellie caught up to us. "Hey guys!" She slung her arm over my shoulder and I beamed at her. "Hello to you too." "So, I had an AMAZING idea!" I could see Jamie rolling his eyes. Ellie's 'ideas' always resulted in trouble. "What?" I asked. "Well...Conch is throwing a party and Saskia invited us...so I said...YES!" I could see Jamie stiffening. A Conch party. Pool. The 'incident' two years ago. "No." I wasn't sure if I had said the word or Jamie. "Absolutely NOT!" He barked, crossing his arms over his chest. "Oh come on! I'm your princess, so I say...YES!" Ellie laughed triumphantly. Oh No. This can't be good.

"No!" I looked at myself in the mirror. "Yes." Ellie giggled. She looked great. She was wearing a leather jacket, a crop top, black shorts and fishnets. "You look cute." She ruffled my hair. I did not look cute. My denim skirt was way too short, up on my thighs. I hadn't realised I'd grown so much. "I can't wear this!" I tugged at the bottom, trying to get it to stretch to my knees. It didn't work, obviously. "Wait! I have an idea!" Ellie sprang to one of her many piles of clothes, digging out a black leather skirt. "NO!" I gasped. "Yes." She grinned, her purple lipstick shining in the light from the overhead bulb. It fitted me much better than my denim skirt and...I didn't look too bad. Ellie thrust me a white t-shirt with the words 'born 2 rule' emblazed across the front. How ironic. She insisted on doing my makeup. Bright red lipstick and a tiny bit of blush. I wouldn't have needed the blush if I'd worn the denim skirt.

The Conch house was packed. Student were everywhere, standing around with red plastic cups. Jamie was waiting for us by the entrance. He looked a bit taken aback by my outfit. "Wow, Lottie...that's um..." My face turned red. "She looks great! Now, are we going in or are we going to stand around like ostriches? Come on!" Ellie lead us through the crowd. She kept a hold on my wrist so we didn't get separated. Jamie was just behind me. "Friends!" Lola's high pitched voice called from somewhere. I peered around Ellie and saw Lola, Binah, Saskia, Anastacia and Raphael at the punch table. "Over here!" Lola waved us forwards. "Hi." I waved awkwardly back. Lola threw her arms around me and I was overcome by the smell of sugar. "Hey." Saskia nodded 'hello' to me, before looking Ellie up and down and smirking. "Hi. I hope I'm not late!" A chill ran up my spine and I turned around. Ellie grabbed my hand, her fingers tightening around mine. I turned towards the familiar voice. Standing beside Jamie was the last person I wanted to see. Haru.
