"Lottie?" I nudged her with my elbow. Things had been weird between us lately. "Ya?" She asked, giving me a smile, though it didn't reach her eyes. " can we talk?" I asked her. She nodded, grabbing her coffee and following me out to the fountain. "Lottie, are you angry at me?" I asked as she sat down opposite me. "No! Of course not Ellie!" She looked surprised. I looked into the rippling water. A group of students walked past, laughing. "Lottie, is something wrong?" She hesitated. It was only a split second but it was enough for me to know she was hiding something. "Of course not." She smiled, but even that seemed strained. I looked into her eyes, trying to see she wasn't lying, but she couldn't quite meet my eyes.
