The sound of quick footsteps outside the door made me turn away from the window. Lottie slipped into the tower room, blushing. "Hi." I whispered. "Hi." She replied. We stood in silence for a moment, before I crossed the room, stroking her cheek gently. "Look...Jamie. Before things get..." I knew what she wanted to say, so I said them for her. "I know this might make things complicated, but I like you too much not to ignore this feeling." She turned pink again. "I just don't want Ellie to get hurt." She said quietly. "Neither do I, but...what she doesn't know can't hurt her. Right?"
"You mean...keep it a secret?" Lottie gasped. I nodded, not taking my eyes away from hers. They were so pretty. Shining hopefully up at me. "Ok." The words were barely audible, but I heard them. That's all that mattered.
