No one wants to comfort a 13 year old
It's just not in their nature
Teens want to talk about clothes or school
Things that can be brushed off and laughed about
Things that have no meaning in the real world
Their minds are like a bubble
They spend all their time on the outside
Bouncing around with no worries or fears
And trying to hide what's on the inside from everyone
Including themselves
But once in a while someone will slip through the film
And into the capacious eternity of their disapproving soul
"You got that question wrong,"
"Everyone hates your hair,"
"You're never going to amount to anything,"
It's what's on the inside that counts
No one wants to comfort a 13 year old
It's just too awkward
Knowing that someone doubts themself
Is like knowing someone's greatest secret
Knowing no one is as they seem
Is everyone's greatest fear
Once someone is stuck in their bubble
Their like a person drowning in shark infested waters
No one wants to save them
For fear of being pulled in themself
No one wants to comfort a 13 year old
It's just too scary
What to say, what to do
It's better to just avoid that kind of confrontation anyway
No one wants to comfort a 13 year old
That's ok, I didn't think I was worth it anyway
