I arrive home to an empty house. I smile to myself as I dump my stuff and head straight to my room. This is the best part of having a chaotic family: when I get the house all to myself because my sister has some thing to go to and one of my parents is still at work and the other one takes Charlotte to whatever thing she has and doesn't come back until it's over.

I plug in my phone and flop onto my bed, immediately going into messages and texting Jillian (I don't have to go into our conversation because I never go out of it. It's perpetually displaying my conversation with Jillian).

Sent:
Hey just got home, u busy?

Jilly:
Nope
What's on the Chaotic Rose Family Calendar™ today?

Sent:
Idk, nobody else is home

Jilly:
Nice
So, what's up?

I smile idiotically at my phone.

Sent:
K so
After I went back to the school to get my bio stuff from my locker
I was going back down the stairs right
And I was being careful
But then I saw somebody standing at the bottom

Jilly:
Wait you didn't fall right

I stop typing and press my lips together. Unfortunately, the pause is enough for her to know.

Jilly:
THEODORE SAMUEL ROSE
ARE YOU OKAY
FALLING DOWN STAIRS IS DANGEROUS YOU COULD GET A CONCUSSION YOU COULD BREAK YOUR NECK YOU COULD PARALYZE YOURSELF AND NOBODY WOULD KNOW BECAUSE TEACHERS ARE OBLIVIOUS YOU COULD DIE

Sent:
I know I swear I was being super careful but got distracted when I saw the person at the bottom of the stairs I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry
I'm okay the person caught me before I hit the ground

Jilly:
K good
But still be more careful, k?

Sent:

Jilly:
Good

Sent:

And I like froze for a sec before looking up at them
And you will NEVER GUESS WHO IT WAS

Jilly:

Jilly:

Sent:
Guess anyways

Jilly:
A teacher?

Sent:

A student?

Sent:
No and no

Jilly:
K I give up idk who else would be in the school
Principal?

Sent:
No
Idak why he was in the school that's a valid question

DRUMROLL PLEASE

Jilly:
(bangs obnoxiously on table)

Sent:
BLAIR SILVER

Jilly:

Sent:
I KNOW RIGHT IT WAS INSANE
IT WAS AMAZING
HE'S EVEN MORE ATTRACTIVE CLOSE UP

OH MY GOODNESS I CANNOT EVEN

OH MY GOSH THAT'S SO CRAZY AHHHHH
What did he say?!

Sent:
he was smirking and it was so beautiful I almost died
And then he was all like
Hey, you seem to be in a bit of a rush
Or something like that
So cool I practically got frostbite
