Chapter 22 ~The End~

Here it is! The final chapter of the book!

"Holy shit this is good!" Janus exclaimed, taking a bite of the food.

"Language," Patton said with a laugh.

"English," Logan deadpanned, then started laughing.

"Where did you even learn to cook like this?" Janus asked Virgil.

"No clue. I've just always known how," Virgil said with a shrug. Virgil glanced at Roman, who had stopped eating for a second. When he saw the look on Virgil's face he immediately went back to eating, rolling his eyes fondly at his loves protectiveness. If his eating disorder had been a person, Roman was fairly certain Virgil would've killed it violently.

"Virgil I'm fine. I'm eating, you don't even have to worry about that. Your cooking is good enough that even if I wanted to I'm not sure I could stop anymore," Roman said with a laugh. Virgil pressed a kiss on Roman's cheek, making his face flush.

"I know, love. I'm just making sure," Virgil said. "And I'm glad you like it."

"I'm not sure how someone couldn't like your cooking," Remus stated.

"You all are just trying to flatter me so I keep cooking, aren't you?" Virgil asked with a laugh.

"Well is it working?" Patton asked with a hopeful smile. "This is way better than I can make it."

"Fine," Virgil said. "I guess it's working. As long as Princey eats I'll cook for the rest of time without complaint." Patton gave Roman a serious look.

"You'd better keep eating because there's no way I want to lose this," Patton stated. Then they all burst out laughing.

Since the meeting, they had merged the mind palace. No more light side, no more dark sides. Just one neutral place. Emile and Remy stopped in quite often, so they even made a spare room for them when they stayed over.

Remy and Emile had also announced that they were officially together, which no one was really surprised about.

Virgil finally had to tell Remy that he wasn't going to kill him since Remy kept flinching when Virgil walked by. The others were confused about when that had even happened, but Virgil just laughed and never answered.

Since the conflict, they couldn't be happier. They had gotten better at listening to each other because of it, which made everyone happier.

After all, communication is the base of any good relationship, platonic or otherwise.

Let it be known that part of that communication included a very embarrassing conversation about Remus and Logan needing to get a soundproofed room.

Logan eventually proposed to Remus, who happily said yes. After all, they already had two children, so it just made sense to beget married.

No big surprise here, but Virgil eventually proposed to Roman. And Patton and Janus tried to propose at the same time, so that worked out well.

Remy and Emile eventually got married as well, not that anyone was surprised at that. Virgil even gave a speech at the wedding saying, and I quote, 'I'm so glad I didn't kill you so I could see you two finally stop pining over each other and get married.'

They were happy, finally. Sure, not everything was perfect, but it was getting better.

They had each other, and that was all they needed.
