"Y/N? Y/N wake up." Adam says, gently shaking you awake.

"Hmm?" You say, your eyelids fluttering shut again.

"We've gotta get to your appointment." He says.

"Ugh." You say, never wanting to get out of bed.

"I know. Come on, sit up for me." He says.

You slowly sit up and he hands you your prenatal vitamins and other prescribed medications, then hands you a bowl of fruit for breakfast.

"Thank you." You smile, taking a bite of a strawberry.

"We've gotta go in about an hour." He says.

"Okay, thank you." You say gratefully.

He goes back to the kitchen and you finish your fruit, then getting out of bed (with a struggle) and getting dressed into one of Adam's sweatshirts he lent to you and your maternity leggings. You throw your hair up into a bun, brush your teeth and waddle out to the kitchen where Adam is drinking his coffee.

"Good morning sleeping beauty." He chuckles.

"Shut up." You say.

He laughs.

"You ready?" He asks.

"I guess." You say.

"Cheer up. You get to see your baby." He smiles, squeezing your hand.

You nod, grab your purse, and Adam helps you downstairs. Ever since you found out that you were pregnant, Adam has been right by your side. For every appointment, pain, craving, emotional break down, and everything that comes with pregnancy. Your long time boyfriend left you when you told him that you were pregnant and he hasn't come back. Adam immediately stepped up and has taken care of you. He has been your best friend since you were kids and you are so grateful to have him to walk through this with you. He has made sure you're on time to every appointment, eating healthy, and taking care of yourself like you should even though you're struggling. Of course you're absolutely ecstatic to meet your baby but you're still coping with your boyfriend leaving and prenatal anxiety. When you arrive to your appointment, you get checked in and are taken back to a room. They get you ready for your ultrasound and the doctor comes in.

"There's your little girl." She says, pressing the ultrasound wand into your stomach.

Your eyes fill up with tears as her heartbeat fills the room and Adam squeezes your hand.

"She's looking great and healthy and from the looks of it, I'd say you'll be having a baby within the next couple of days!" She says.

You quickly look over at Adam who smiles brightly, squeezing your hand once more. Your heart feels like it's about to burst out of your chest from excitement and anxiety. Your doctor gives you some more information and then leaves you and Adam to head home. You pull down your sweatshirt and Adam gathers the rest of your things.

"In the next couple of days. Can you believe that?" He asks.

"No not really." You say, your anxiety almost strangling you.

"Hey, everything is going to be okay. You're gonna meet your daughter soon." He says, rubbing your back.

"I know. I'm just terrified. What if I can't do it?" Trying to push your tears down.

Adam immediately pulls you into his chest, which makes you fall apart in his arms.

"You are the strongest woman I know and if anyone is more than capable of bringing a baby into this world, it's you. This little girl is so lucky to have a mom like you who cares about her more than anything in the world. You can and you will do this because you were born to be a mom. You always said that when we were younger right?" He says.

"I wouldn't be able to--to do this with out you." You whisper.

Adam kisses the top of your head and wipes your tears away. You head home and decide to take a nap, your body exhausted. What only feels like minutes later, you're awoken by the feeling of something trickling down your leg and wetting your bed underneath you. You sit up, thinking that you peed the bed and becoming embarrassed but you soon realize that your water has broken.

"Adam!" You call, starting to panic.

He comes running in, his eyes immediately going to the wet spot under you.

"Is that--?" He asks.

You nod in response.

"I guess we're not going to have to wait a couple more days." He says.

"I guess not." You chuckle, not knowing what to do.

Adam quickly helps you up and gets you to the bathroom so you can take a quick shower and he can strip the bed and throw the sheets into the washer. Small sparks of pain begin to radiate through your body as you shower and you quickly finish, wanting to get to the hospital as soon as possible. Adam has yours and his bags ready when you're done getting dressed and you swiftly head to the hospital. They get you checked in, into a room, changed, and hooked up to many machines and monitors.

"How are you feeling?" Adam asks, sitting next to your bed.

"Oh god." You say, feeling another contraction coming on.

Adam holds your hand as you bury your face into his chest, gripping onto his shirt with your free hand as you ride that wave of pain.

"Good job." He says, stroking your hair.

You smile tiredly, breathing heavily. This goes on for what feels like an eternity, the pain getting worse an worse with each passing hour. After one of your most painful contractions yet, you start to cry.

"Adam I can't. I'm so tired and it hurts so bad." You cry, sweat beading on your hairline.

"Yes you can. You've been doing such a good job and you're getting closer to meeting your daughter. This will be so so worth it in the end." He says, stroking your hair and wiping your forehead with a cool washcloth.

You gasp as another contraction wracks through your body and you wail into Adam's chest again. The doctor comes in the check your progress and tells you that it's time to start pushing. Adam holds your hand in his and uses his other to hold your head as he whispers encouraging words into your ear as you push with each contraction. After thirty minutes of crying, awful pain, and pep talks from Adam, your daughter is born. Her cries fill the room and you fall back against the pillow, completely drained of everything.

"Dad would you like to cut the cord?" The doctor asks.

Adam starts to correct her but you cut her off.

"Yes he would." You say.

Adam looks at you shocked for a moment but then takes the scissors and cuts your daughters cord, then kissing you on the forehead after.

"Thank you." He says.

"Of course. You're more of a father to her than her real dad will ever be." You say, squeezing his hand.

He smiles, a tear falling down his face. They clean your daughter up and lay her on your chest. She is the most beautiful thing you've ever seen in your life. Your life has been brightened in an instant and it'll never be the same. You, Adam, and your daughter are your world, and you couldn't be happier.
