Coach Steven [Chapter 2]

!Little disclaimer that there will probably be a lot of timeskips in this books, and even some bigger ones!

A few weeks have passed since Steven first spawned his shield.
You and the Gems tried your best to help Steven controll his powers, but all he got so far was summon his weapon once and another time he made a pink, indestructable bubble.

But...at least that's more that you did so far. You only knew how to summon your sword. You didn't know wether you had other powers or not.

You are a genuinely curious person and liked exploring new things.
Still it was frustrating to see, how your little brother achieved more in a couple of weeks that you did in two years.

You were a little older than 14 when you first summoned your weapon. And Steven was only 13.

You shook off your jealous thoughts quickly, as you heard footsteps approach from behind. You were sitting on the beach, in the warm sand, watching the sunset.

The person approaching you now sat down next to you. It was Amethyst. The two of you were pretty close, almost like sisters.

"What up?" The gem asked, as she leaned back, supporting herself by putting her hands on the ground behind her.

"Sunset." You simply told, looking over to her for a second, then looking back at the horizon, where the sea met the purple-pink sky.

"Nah, I meant how you're feeling." Amethyst corrected herself, gently bumping her elbow into your side and grinning.

You smiled. She always knew when you had something on your mind. It's like the two of you have some magical connection.

"I dunno. Just...thinking."
You shrugged. Just like her, you didn't like talking abou emotions, so you usually keep them to yourself.

"Awh, come on dude. You know ya can tell me anything, right?" She looked at you, concern in her eyes.

You don't like seeing her worry. So you gave in.
"I just...I don't get how Steven is able to discover so many abilities in such a short timespan! I needed years of practice to be able to summon my weapon at any time! And he's only 13 as well. It's...upsetting"

"Woah...never thought about it like that. But he has a teacher that's just like him! He's got you. You didn't have someone the same as you tell you how it works. You're half gem, half human. We're not." She tried to calm your nerves.

You grinned.
"Since when so empathic, Ames? Carefull, or you'll become like Pearl or Garnet!" You joked and both of you laughed for a bit

"Heh, right. Better not become like Pearl." She jokingly punched you into the side.

"The sun's already down. Why don't we head back inside, play some video games and eat some snacks?" You suggested, standing up.

"Sounds good."

"Awh, come on! How did you beat me again?!" Amethyst frowened quietly, as she lent back onto Stevens bedframe, trying not to wake the sleeping boy.
