Kayla
With an excused absence from school, I spent my morning doing some shopping. I was with a childhood friend named Phil whose dad was old friends with mine. Since my uncles passing, he reached out and said he wanted to catch up. He skipped school today in order to hang out with me. With us was one of our family security guards.
"Ya' parents don't give you a limit to how much you can spend?" He asked me as he carried my bags.
"Why? Your arms tired?" I asked him as the cashier wrapped up my purchases.
"Never. I'm just wondering." He smiled.
"Nope. I'm actually spending my own money, so." I shrugged.
"I'm rude you want something, friend?" I added.
"No, I got my own money. You can take my picture though. I was supposed to wear this to school so they still need to see me." He dropped my bags and posed against the counter.
"Unnn, you tryna impress your peers?" I frowned and turned it into a smile, purchasing my things.
"You still think you funny, I see." He fanned his hand as we exited the store.
"Nah. Go 'head and show that black skin. Black is forever beautiful." I popped my lips together.
"If that's the case, you gotta take some photos too. Since black so beautiful." Phil gently nudged my shoulder.
"Real everything, ya' heard me. Except for my eyelashes. But I brag different." I flipped my hair.
"So that water jug head all yerrs too?" Phil busted out laughing as we slowly walked through the mall.
"Actually, it is. It's quite a nice melon head—not too heavy, holds lots of knowledge." I chuckled.
I was done shopping so we headed back to the car. The security got in the front seat while Phil and I sat in the back for some privacy. We jammed out to exclusive unreleased music that I had my hands on—it was nice to take my mind off the sadness of my uncle passing. The self-driven car took its time driving us to a restaurant for a quick bite to eat.
