"You're going to propose to Cheryl right? Well we gotta get her a ring. And I'm gonna help you pick it out. I know what a girl likes."

Presently in Harry's POV

I stared at her with my eyes widened. This was sort of sudden. I was going to propose to Cheryl—but this soon? "How much do you know?"

"I know pretty much every thing Louis knows." Nicole smiled and looked over at Louis who was already smirking away. I flashed him a glare of betrayal—he knew that I liked to keep my love life to myself. It's personal and nothing more should matter.

"Of course you do." I said sarcastically. Alright, I guess I was going to buy a ring for Cheryl. "So tomorrow we are going to buy Cheryl a ring?"

She nodded, "Yep. And I'm going to help pay for it."

"What? No. That wouldn't be necessary. We have more than enough money to-" I was cut off by her.

"Harry. Things have changed since high school. I am the top lawyer in defense in this whole country. I have just as much money as you do—maybe a little less. And besides. It's the least I could do for one of my old best friends." Nicole crossed her arms over her chest and waited for me to answer, but honestly I was waiting for myself to answer her as well. I didn't know how to argue with that, and I didn't think I'd win against her. Apparently arguing is her life—she would win against me any day.

I sighed my sigh of defeat, "Alright fine, but we're halving the amount. End of discussion." I said dominantly; which felt good.

"Done." Nicole chuckled as if it were a joke. I smiled back.

"Okay enough of all this seriousness. Let's go rehearse!" I yelled proudly, pumping my fist into the air playfully and marching toward the rehearsal room.

-

The morning after our always-interesting rehearsal, I woke up in my bed with my Mac Book pressed against my lap. I was Skyping Cheryl last night before I fell asleep, and I guess I never put it away.

Anyway, today was the day that I was going to buy Cheryl a ring for engagement. After I had given it a thought, I noticed that maybe Cheryl's mum would like me more. If I propose to her then Cheryl will still be with the person she lost her virginity to. It's a win-win.

So, I decided to get up and start getting dressed since I usually slept naked—because who doesn't like to feel free? I strolled over to my suitcase that was next to the desk where my Mac Book is supposed to be. I unzipped it and started to get changed into fresh clothes.

Then, I brushed my teeth and combed through my tangled, fluffy curls with my fingers, taking one last look at my reflection in the mirror. I was prepared for this.

"Ha-rold!" Nicole and the lads greeted me loudly, making me smile although I did hate my real name.

"Morning."

"Are you ready?" Nicole asked as I slipped on my leather jacket. In my mind, I shrugged, but in real life I just nodded my head. I felt ready to take this big step, but yet I didn't feel ready. So basically, I'm in another war with me, myself, and I. "Alright. See you guys later!"

"We'll be back soon." I mentioned before I walked out of the front door of our hotel. Nicole lead me down the hallway of other hotel rooms and all the way to the lobby as if I didn't already know where they were. I guess I've never notice how dominant she really was. I didn't even know that she wanted to be a lawyer.

"So any kids? Husband?" I asked, trying to break free of the awkward silence that smothered the two of us.

"No kids, and yes. His name's Mason." She replied simply, continuing to move quickly passed the lobby.

"What does he do?" I asked another question.

"He's a photographer for People magazine." Nicole glanced toward me with a strange look. A photographer? For People magazine? Sounds more like paparazzi for a lying magazine.

Even though this smelt very fishy, I ignored it. I didn't want to bring it to her attention that I was stressing about her husband's job. It was none of my business anyway.

"So where do you want to go look at rings?" She asked me.

"Kay's?" I suggested the first thing that came into my mind, remembering their catchy motto, "Every kiss begins with K."

She laughed, "Sounds good."

So there we were, walking in the cold to Kay Jeweler's; which wasn't really all that far, but throughout that time of travel, I had some time to think.

I thought about Cheryl, starting to miss her presence, and it had only been a week from the last time I'd seen her beautiful face. How was I supposed to survive without her?

I also thought about baby names. Maybe for a girl, Darcy or Sydney, and maybe for a boy, Cody or Connor. If Cheryl doesn't let me pick his or her first name then I'll just pick the middle names, but I'm pretty sure she'll like the ones I've thought up. They were cute names after all, and they would fit perfectly with my last name.

"Alright. You go on that side of the store while I look on this side," Nicole said, destroying my train of deep thought. I nodded in her direction and made my way to the other engagement rings. I glanced at the glistening, shimmering, blinding diamonds, thinking about which one would look just right on Cheryl's dainty ring finger. Luckily, I knew her finger size—six.

I gazed down at more and more rings. It seemed like a maze, and I was the mouse, trying to get to the end where the cheese was. They were all beautiful rings, but I didn't think these could match up to Cheryl.

"Harry! Come look at this one!" Nicole shouted with a huge grin; which made me grow with excitement. I rushed my way toward her and peered into the case where she was looking. "This one would look perfect on Cheryl, Harry!" She pointed down at one ring that was designed by Neil Lane. It was almost four carats of diamond, and it looked perfect for Cheryl. Warmth built up inside me as I imagined her screaming at the sight, saying "yes" over and over.

"Can I look at this one in size six?" I asked the man behind the counter who smiled. He unlocked the counter and took out an exact replica of the one in the display cabinet, handing it to me. I grasped it in my hands, grinning from ear to ear. "We'll take it."

Did I just buy an engagement?
