~Amari's View~
"Please, Amari. Do this for me." Rasheeda, Eloise's adopted thirteen-year-old daughter pleads.
"No, I'm busy. Jaina and I are making a new YouTube video and dad is taking me to the company, which if you didn't know, I'm the heir to." I say happily.
"Family comes first Amari." Rasheeda pouts.
"Okay," I sigh. "Why do you want to go out with this guy you speak of?"
"Every girl my age is going out with someone and he's not just some guy." She blushes.
"Oh really?" I smile teasingly. "Who is he?"
"Promise you won't tell my mom." She sticks out her pinky.
"Cross my heart and hope to die.""Okay, it's Xavier." She smiles dreamily.
"Who's Xavier?" I scrunch my brows.
"Xavier, the attractive guy with vale-coloured eyes, dark golden brown hair which falls in his eyes every time he runs his fingers through them," I get lost in my thoughts trying to figure out who my niece is talking about.
My eyes bulge when the Xavier's face pops up in my head."What!? No way Rasheeda!" I shake my head.
"Why?" She whines.
"Xavier is too old for you. He's six years older than you and I'm sure there's no way he's going to go out with some little girl like you. He's in college and has got girls swooning over him. Why would he choose you?" I blabber before realizing how stupid I am because Rasheeda looks hurt.
"Sorry." I apologize.
"Thanks for caring aunt." She leaves my room."Argh!" I groan. What was I supposed to say? Xavier is Wyatt's friend. Wyatt is Jaina, my best friend's elder brother. They're both in college and wouldn't even go out with me, why then will they go out with my thirteen-year-old niece?
I spend an hour listing the topics Jaina and I can make our next YouTube video on while I listen to music.
"Hey, Amari." Eloise enters my room with two troublemakers, Timmy and Autumn, her children.
"Hey, sis." I smile at her and narrow my eyes at the children who are whispering to each other. They give me toothy grins when they see me looking at them."Mom's not coming." She says.
"Her work was extended?" I roll my eyes and she nods. "That was expected."
"She's gonna be home soon, for Christmas," Eloise assures me.
"Sure," I say nonchalantly. This happens every other Christmas. Her work gets extended and she stays longer than expected. She owns two restaurants and works with others and is also trying her best to keep them on top-notch so I don't blame her but even when she's at home, she seems so distant."Jaina, Wyatt, and Xavier are coming tomorrow," Eloise says drawing me out of my thoughts. "Be nice."
"What do you mean by 'be nice'?" I air quote.
"You know exactly what I mean big girl." She smiles and I chuckle.
"I didn't mean to hurt Rasheeda's feelings I was just stating the truth.""The truth? Really? It sounded more like, "I can't be with Wyatt so Rasheeda can't be with Xavier". She tries talking like me.
"I do not sound like that and this is not about me. Rasheeda is just too young for Xavier. He wouldn't want to go out with her even if she was the last female on earth."
"What about you? Do you think your crush, Wyatt, will want to go out with a girl who hurts other people's feelings, for example, her niece's feelings?" Eloise asks with a straight face.
"Okay, I'm done talking about this. You keep telling me that I'm rude, don't you think that hurts me too?"
"It wouldn't hurt if you accept the fact and apologize for your wrongs." She says back.
"I haven't done anything wrong, Eloise."
"Oh yeah because you're the holiest person on earth!? Congratulations Amari."
