~Amari's View~
Grocery shopping at night with Wyatt was so fun. He made me sit in the cart while he pushed me around. Hehe, it was fun.
We're going back to his house now."I'm exhausted." I yawn, rubbing my eyes. Wyatt looks at me with his own set of drowsy eyes. "Go to sleep, I'll carry you inside when we get home."
"Then who'll help you carry the groceries?" I ask. He smiles at me, "Babe, just go to sleep." I nod and get comfortable in my seat as my eyes almost flutter shut when I see something or better still someone.
"Wyatt, stop the car," I shout. He brings the car to an abrupt stop. "Why?" He asks. "What's wrong?"
"Can you go back a bit? I think I saw a familiar face." I tell him. "Are you sure?" He asks. "Trust me," I say, unbuckling my seatbelt.
He puts the car in reverse and drives backward. "Stop," I instruct him. Quickly opening the door I step out of the car as Wyatt tells me not to.
My heart pounds continuously as I inch towards the body sitting up against the wall.
"Amari," Wyatt calls after me. "Let's go home. It's not safe out here."
"Shh! I'm coming." I say to him as I turn on my phone's flashlight. I gasp. "Oh my God! Wyatt, you won't believe this."
"What is it?" He walks closer, turning on his flashlight too. The girl sitting up against the wall squints at the brightness of our flashlights. "Am I in heaven?" She giggles.
"Is this the girl from the pictures?"
"Yes, it's her." I nod trying to suppress my excitement. "Help me carry her."
"You want us to take her with us?" He questions. "Yes, now help me." He murmurs incoherent words under his breath and reluctantly helps me carry Sia into the backseat of his car. We get seated and Wyatt starts up the car again as we continue our journey home.
The girl giggles, "It tickles." She pulls out a phone and strains to read what's written on her screen. "I think I lost my eyes. Can someone please find them for me?" She pleads. I try to stop myself from laughing.
"I've still got my eyes. I'll read to you." I reach out to take the phone. She touches my face and kisses my forehead. "Mwah! You must have very pretty eyes. Thanks." She gives me a toothy grin making me smile too despite the smell of alcohol in her breath.
I start reading the messages out to her as a call from the same person, Chopsticks, comes through. I answer the call since Lil Miss Sia is busily talking to her imaginary friends."Sia, where are you? Wherever you are please stay there. I'm coming for you. Don't move anywhere okay? Oh God, why aren't you saying anything?" I smile as I realize who's speaking from the other side.
"Hi Luis, it's Amari," I speak into the phone. "Amari? What are you doing with Sia's phone?"
"I'm sending you an address, come there now. Sia isn't feeling so good at the moment." I say, sending him Wyatt's address.
"I'm on my way." He says and ends the call."Hey, pretty eyes?" Sia taps me. "Yes?" I respond. She giggles. "You have a name right?" She asks. "Yes, I have a name." She claps excitedly. "Yay! What's your name?"
"My name's Amari."
"Oh my gosh! Like Amari, from YouTube?" She squeals. I chuckle, "Yes, that's me."
"It's such an honor to me you. I've watched all your videos. I know everything about you, well only the things from the Q&A sessions." She smiles widely. "It's a pleasure to meet you too." I chuckle.Wyatt brings the car to a stop. "We're here."
"We're here," Sia says in a deep voice, imitating Wyatt. I chuckle as Wyatt shakes his head. We get out of the car to help Sia down.
"Do you really think you're related?" Wyatt asks. I nod, "I have a strong feeling that we are." He gives my shoulders a firm squeeze and we help Sia into the house as we balance the grocery in our arms. Setting the groceries down on the kitchen counter, I instruct Wyatt to run the bath for Sia."Can I have a cup of water, please?" She asks politely. "Here you go." I help her drink the water out of the glass. "Thank you." She wipes her mouth with the back of her hand.
"Can I tell you something?" She whispers in my ear. "You can tell me anything," I assure her. "I jumped out of a moving car tonight. These marks are meant for legends like me." She flexes her arms revealing bloodstained marks. My eyes widen. "Why did you do that?" I asked, inspecting her arm.
"Some people hurt me." She says sadly. "Do you have a home? Like a family?"
I nod, "Yes."
"Where are they?" She asks just as Wyatt walks in.
"Let's get you cleaned up." I take her hand and lead her upstairs.
How would I have answered that question?"Is the water cold?" She asks after she's discarded her clothes.
"I think it's okay," I assure her. She nods and gets into the bathtub.
"Look, I got a tattoo," Sia smiles as she shows me her pinkie with the word free written on it. "It's beautiful, why'd you get it?" I ask. Her smile falters.
"I got it because I felt free at the moment but now I feel trapped again." She says, brushing her hands over her shaved head. "You wanna know something?" She looks up at me.
"What is it?"
"I want to dye my armpit hair orange and blue." She giggles. I chuckle at her silliness.
"Wanna know something else?" She looks at me with a toothy grin. I nod for her to go ahead.
"I'm supposed to be dead." She says surprising me. "I'd be a ghost by now. Isn't that cool?"
"I don't know." I shake my head. "Why do you say that?"
"I found out that I was taken away from my family. They think I'm dead. My poor mom and dad. I also found out that my name isn't Sia." She sighs still wearing a smile.
"What's it then?" I inquire.
"My name is Avisha." She giggles. "Isn't it beautiful?"I shoot to my feet. "Are you serious?" I ask. "Dead serious." She nods.
"Oh my God." I breathe out as a tear trails down my cheek.
"Are you crying?" She stands from the tub and grabs a towel wrapping it around her body. "Please don't cry." She wipes my face.
I hug her tightly and kiss her forehead. "I love you so much, okay? Please don't leave me." I say to her as tears of joy stream down my cheeks.
"I'm confused." She says. I pull away, dragging her closer to the mirror.
"Look at us, please tell me you see the resemblance." I plead with her.
She nods, "Yes we look alike, so what?"
"So you're my sister. Better still, my twin." I smile at her.
"We're family?" She asks. I nod vigorously. "Yes, we're family. I can't wait to tell mom."
"I have a twin. I have a family." She says looking at herself in the mirror once again. She smiles, her smile turning into giggles. She looks up at the light shining above us.
"It's so beautiful." She says in awe. "I wish I could touch it." She giggles and starts moving around in circles. Before I can stop her, she falls flat on the bathroom floor.
"Avisha." I tap her continuously. "Wyatt!" I shout.
He bolts into the bathroom followed by Luis.
"What happened to her?" Luis crouches down staring at her with so much love.
"She just fainted," I inform him as he carries Avisha out of the bathroom and straight to the bed. I pick up her clothes from the floor when something falls out.
Wyatt picks it up and examines it. "What's it?" I ask.
"Acid." He responds. "What do you mean by acid?"
"LSD. It's a drug," Luis says running his hands through his hair in frustration.
"Do you guys think my sister is on drugs?" I ask in horror as I stare at her smallish figure lying in bed.
"Your sister?!" The boys shout.
"Yeah, Avisha, my twin."
