~Avisha' View~
There are no words to describe the way I feel right now. Seeing my biological mother and father tear up as they hug me tightly and tell me how much they love me is the sweetest thing ever.
Never in a million years would I have dreamt of this day. I'm happy and I hope I remain happy. Fingers crossed. My elder siblings; Elliot, Eloise, and Eli also make me feel at home. They never cease to make me laugh. Kimberly and Cadmus are very nice. I like the way Cadmus cares so much about his wife, Eloise, and the children.
Oh, and the children, they are the cutest. Rasheeda and China being in their early teenage years, are so beautiful. They keep asking me questions about my shaved hair and the two tattoos I have. The interest they seem to have in me has the hole where my heart is supposed to be, fill up again.
Chad, Autumn, Timmy, Holly, Polly, and Jolly are trouble but sweet. Well, to me not to Amari.
I smile at how everyone is busily talking. My eyes land on Jaina who's staring at me. I smile at her. She smiles back. Jaina and I started talking on Facebook so we're kinda familiar with each other. I think she's an easy-going person and very pretty too.Mom claps her hands, drawing everyone's attention. "Let's join hands as we say a word of prayer."
I hold Amari and Timmy's hands and close my eyes just like everyone does.
Dad starts praying, followed by mom, then everyone else, and soon I'm the only one left to pray. What am I going to say?
"Just say what's on your heart," Amari whispers to me.
If only I had a heart. I sigh and start speaking, "Our Father in Heaven, I-I thank You for my family. I thank You for reuniting me with them. I never dreamt of this day ever and yet, here it is. I found my real family. I'm very grateful. Thank You, I appreciate this very much. Amen!"
"Amen!" They all say.
"That was good right?" I ask Amari. "It was." She nods."Avisha." Autumn taps me. I kneel to her level, "Hey." She smiles. "Can you tell us a story?"
"No, Autumn. I'm sure Avisha is tired and wants to go to bed." Mom says. I shake my head, "No it's fine. I'll tell a story."
"Okay, gather around everybody, Avisha has a story to tell.""Caution! This is a tale like no other. It's not about a princess or a prince, there'll be no fairy godmothers, no ball gowns, no bibbidi bobbidi boo, no glass slippers, or poisoned apples, just a plain girl's story. I don't know if it has a happy ending, but relax and enjoy the story."
"Once upon a time, a woman gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She loved her baby so dearly, that it hurt her very much when her baby was taken away from her by some bad people.
They tried and tried their best to find the baby but it was to no avail because the baby had been taken far far away from unaided eyes.
She was going to grow up without her parents or her other lovely family members. How can the world be so cruel? Why would anyone do this to a poor harmless baby? All because of money?
Well, the baby grew, not so healthy but she was content with what had and tried her best to respect her mother and sister. She had thought about how they had little to no resemblance but what could she do? She had no proof of them not being related. She had planned on numerous occasions to run away when times got hard but where would she go to? How would she survive?
Later on, she was given out into marriage. She knew her mother was selling her to the man. She tried convincing her mother on several occasions to not do it but all her pleas fell on dead ears. The wedding ceremony drew near, everyone in the man's house was busy with preparations. Nothing could go wrong.
The girl knew this was her only chance to escape so she allied with a lady who wanted to marry the man. They carried out their plan swiftly and switched clothes when the coast was clear. An unexpected person visited her at that time, it was the boy she called her best friend. He had come to help her escape. She was very glad to have him on her side. It was time for them to leave. Leaving had become a bit hard because she had become friends with the lady who helped her carry out the plan. They said their goodbyes and left.
Soon enough, the girl and her friend find themselves in another city. This city was different from the one she grew up in and little did she know that was where she'd find her family. Someway somehow, they united. She and her family, all together again. She had no words to explain how she felt with her family by her side. She wished it would forever remain the same."...
Everyone retired to bed later that evening. I still couldn't sleep. Thoughts of my past life came flooding back into my mind. Thoughts of Luis. I'm gonna change for him. I'll be a better person for him. I promise. Hopefully, I don't break my promise.
Getting out of bed, I walk out of the room and to the kitchen to get some warm milk to help me sleep.
I see Jaina leaning on the kitchen counter. "Hey." I greet. "Hey." She responds.
"Couldn't sleep?" I asked pulling out a carton of milk. "Yup, what about you?" She asks. "Same."
"You can have the rest of my milk." Jaina offers. I smile in appreciation, "Thanks," and place the carton of milk back in the fridge and take her glass out of her hands."You're so pretty in person." She says barely above a whisper. "Um- I mean uh. Sorry I might seem like a creep right now. I should go." She backs away.
"Please don't go." I pull her back. Smiling at her I say, "I think you're gorgeous."
She smiles back shyly and just stares into my eyes as if she's searching for something.
"Wha-" The word barely leaves my mouth when she presses her lips against mine and kisses me. I kiss back, running my fingers through her long locks of hair.
Just then my senses kick in. You love Luis. What are you doing? This is wrong!I push her away. She looks into my eyes again with her teary ones. She shakes her head. "I'm sorry." And with that, she runs away.
