Coming together is a beginning, Staying together is progress, And  working together is success.

Peeta Pov

We have never ran so fast.

Even with my fake leg and Katniss recently getting shot, we have never  moved so fast. Not in either of the Games, or during the war. Now we practically fly across the room into Haymitch's embrace. I hear a cane clatter to the ground as his arms take hold of our worn frames.

He clings to us, with just as much relief, pain, and love flooding out of him as us. Effie joins us and the four of us lean against the wall, still desperately hugging each other.

Our breaths shake our fragile bodies, we're like fish on land. Unstable and unable to move.

I can barley think, all I know is our team is whole again. We have Haymitch back. The man who dealt with all sorts of capital people to get us supplies. Who was willing to go back to the games to keep me safe. The guy who helped me through venom attacks and blurry memories. The man who went into a coma to keep the rest of us alive.

My heart pounds against my ribs, leaving them feeling sore, as my heart screams in joy. My tears cover my face, giving me a dripping face. Any thoughts I have move to fast for me to even understand them. My legs seem to haven given out from under me after the shock.

I have never felt better.

Katniss POV

Tears pour out of me like a raging waterfall, they soak Haymitch's shoulder as I hold the man who has cared for me. My breaths come out like strangled yells as I take this in. He's standing here. With a cane, ratty hair and dark bags under his eyes, but none of that matters. We didn't lose them.

"Its okay sweetheart." He whispers hoarsely in my ear. "We're okay."

He says  'we're', instead of 'I'm'. Because now, when one of us suffers so do the other three. When I have a horrible nightmare, it hurts everyone else. When Haymitch hears the name of a dead tribute of his, seeing him hurt, hurts us. Its the downside of loving I guess. Love brings so much joy, but to love someone means you have to be ready for the hurt.

"I was so scared..." I wheeze. "That id never get to really say goodbye."

"We've said enough goodbyes." He says weakly. "No more."

"No more." Effie repeats, her tearful smile appearing. "We're together again."

"Five minutes!" A producer yells ruining our moment, as he runs by, followed by a frantic intern carrying steaming cups of coffee.

Our little group separates but stays scrunched together, soaking in the safety that seeps from our arms.

"Ahem!!" The producer says. "You're supposed to be ready to enter!"

"Excuse me!" Effie says, her cheeks flushing. "We are-"

"I don't care what you're doing!" He growls. "You need to be ready to go on!"

"Someone put me back in my coma." Haymitch grumbles as we move.

As we walk, I stare at the polished cane that Haymitch moves with, I can see the weakness in Haymitch leg, it drags slightly, and every time I see the limp, a little piece of my heart breaks off. All I can think, is that it should have been me. I called Haymitch and Effie, I started this rebellion, I should have been the one buried under rubble and lying in a coma. Not Haymitch.

"Katniss stop." Haymitch orders.

He pulls me away from the group, and brings me to the corner of the room, all while being glared at by the tv's staff.

"This was not your fault." He says harshly, gesturing to his cane and limp.

"Haymitch-" I start.

"No." He interrupts. "I made my choices, I choose to stay. You'd just been shot, there was nothing you could do."

"It shouldn't of been you." I say quietly. "We all need you."

"And we don't need you?" He pushes. "I was willing to go into the quarter quell, In order to keep you and Peeta alive, you really think I wouldn't sacrifice myself for you now?"

"The fight is supposed to be over." I protest.

"You remember what I told you?" He pushes. "Before the quarter quell."

I nod hesitantly. "You never get off the train."

"Thats right." He says as he in folds me in his burly arms. "Thats right."

"Excuse me?" A timid voice calls.

"Mum!" I gasp as Haymitch lets go of me.

She smiles at me. My mother wears a new dress, just like the ones that are popular in district twelve for women her age. Worry lines cover her forehead and bags have settled under her eyes. Yet she smiles at me. I started the rebellion that killed her youngest daughter, yet she smiles.

"Katniss." She breathes.

She pulls me into an embrace that smells like soap and roses. "My little girl." She sighs.

My heart constricts at that. I'm not supposed to be her little girl, that should be Prim. Not me.

She lets go, but cups my face in her hands. "She'd be proud." She whispers, as if reading my mind.

"Thank you." My mother says tearfully,  as she turns too Haymitch. "For looking after my Katniss."

Haymitch smiles. "She's a handful. But we love her." He squeezes my shoulder, a comforting movement.

"Ahem!" A haggard technician yells at us. "You need to be getting on stage!"

"Well then, Mrs. Everdeen." Haymitch says as he offers me his arm. "Welcome to the show."
