This was uhh..... shorter than I expected. ANYway, enjoy?

Scar stepped outside to get a bit of fresh air. His eyes were puffy from crying and he was an utter mess. He pushed open the doors and a cold wind blew back at his face. It was raining outside. Of course it was, that's usually what happens at a funeral.

He grabbed an umbrella lying on the doorstep and opened it, water launching off the edges. Walking out into the rain felt nice, just him alone with nothing but his thoughts. It seemed like all the colors in the world were muted, and all sounds became nothing but a whisper. The serenity was quickly interrupted.

"Hello there!" He turned around so quickly, water flung off the umbrella. The voice came from a little man, much shorter than him. He didn't have an umbrella and was incredibly drenched. "You look like you're having a rough day." Well that was one way to put it.

"Can you just go away." Scar turned his back on the stranger. He waited for a while before turning around again, and the little man was still there. "I just wanna be alone." The man frowned. "No one wants to be alone." Scar turned away once more. "Well I do."

The little man sighed in defeat, he expected him to walk away and finally let him sulk on his own, but instead, he rammed into Scar so hard he almost fell over. And wrapped him tightly in a hug. It almost felt good? A hug was something warm and soft and it makes you feel all fuzzy inside. He wasn't supposed to feel these things.

He didn't deserve it.

"Call me anytime if you need sometime to talk to." The little man shoved a slip of paper in his hands and sprinted away before Scar could stop him.

Who was that guy? He seemed nice. It didn't matter anyway, he was finally alone. Scar tucked the paper into his pocket to forget about later. Was he happy? Of course not. Cub was dead and there was nothing he could do about it.

You were supposed to save him.

But he couldn't. Scar had tried to save him, he really did, but there was nothing he could do.

You were supposed to be there for him.

But he was. Wasn't he? He was never there for him. Always letting him down.

You disappointed him.

No, that's not true. Cub couldn't be disappointed in him. But wasn't he? Scar was nothing but a failure.

You're a disappointment

"SHUT UP" he shouted at the inner turmoils of his own mind, slamming his fists against the wall. He looked around for a moment, luckily no one was there to see that. Maybe he should head inside.

Grian knocked on the door of his apartment, hoping someone was home. He forgot his keys just like he forgot his umbrella, and he was dripping on the floor outside the door. Mumbo answered the door, poking his head through a small opening, before shaking his head in disappointment before letting him in. "Did you forget your keys again?" Grian rolled his eyes. "Obviously." Mumbo gave him a playful jab in the gut.

"So, where's Iskall?" Grian asked. Mumbo was usually the one who got home past midnight, forgetting his keys, and waking up the two of them. As if on cue, the phone rang, and Mumbo went over to pick it up. "Hello..." He looked confused, then he burst out laughing. "Gri, I, I think this is for you..."

Grian picked up the phone, reluctantly. "Hello, is this the short boy from earlier today?" Oh, that's what Mumbo found so funny. Real mature. "Yep, my name is Grian by the way." There was silence on the other end of the line for some time. Eventually, the guy responded again," Hi, I'm Scar." Grian felt a happy feeling in his chest.

"Is that your boyfriend Grian?" Mumbo said teasingly. He put his hand over the phone, and rolled his eyes at Mumbo. "Don't try and act like you and Iskall aren't dating." Mumbo gasped, putting his hand over his chest in mock defeat. He snickered, picking up the phone again.

"How are you Scar?" More silence. "I'm...... I'm fine. Who are you?" That was a good question. Grian didn't know why he was there. He was just walking by, when he noticed the man standing outside a church, crying. There was a funeral service going on. He put two and two together. The guy just seemed like he needed a friend at the moment, and Grian was happy to provide, even if it was a little awkward. He hadn't even expected Scar to call back, but he couldn't be happier that he did. "I can be your friend, if that's what you'd like."

Mumbo was laughing at the cheesiness of the situation. "Yeah, I'd like that." His voice dropped. "I haven't had a friend in a while." He heard a knock on the door, it was probably Iskall, and he was probably drunk. He motioned for Mumbo to go answer the door. Mumbo waddled over to the door, and opened it up. Iskall was definitely drunk.

Grian picked up the phone again, "Feel free to call or come over any time you need a friend." Iskall gave him a big, goofy wave. "Thanks," Scar said quietly, and then he hung up. That went sufficiently well, and he was hoping he could hang out with Scar more often. "Was that your boyfriend?" Iskall said, mockingly.

He shook his head tiredly, can he not just have friends? Grian pushed Iskall toward his bedroom, "You need to sleep." For once, Mumbo agreed with him, then he shut the door in his face. He said goodnight to Mumbo, and headed to his own room. He picked up the phone and dialed Scar's number.
