The bass thumped under Piper's feet as she walked through the warehouse. It was cramped, all the gyrating bodies pressed tightly together like sardines in a can.

She searched for Vic, wondering where he had disappeared to. As a tall lanky boy bumped into Piper, she was tossed to the side and slammed against someone's chest. She looked up, only to see a tall boy with brown hair in front of her. She ducked her head.

"Sorry!" She yelled, hoping he heard her apology. He smiled.

"Don't mention it! I love helping a damsel in distress!" He shouted back. She blushed and pulled away.

"Bye!" She called as she turned around, squeezing through many packed bodies. Where had Vic gone and why wasn't he answering her texts?

She was pushed around in the sea of bodies, searching for the familiar blonde. So far, he had gone MIA.

Piper decided it was time to get some air, so she went over to the large doors and slid out, resting her back against the building wall. Fighting to catch her breath, she whipped out her phone and searched for a signal, as well as a text from said bank robber.

"Yo, man. I was just playin'." A voice called. Piper froze, her hands resting flat against the cement wall as she peered around the corner.

In the alley way between the two abanded warehouses, there were five guys, all standing in a circle around one smaller boy. He was wearing a white t-shirt and saggy jeans that showed the tops of his boxers.

He couldn't have been older than fifteen.

Piper clutched her phone tighter in her hand as she surveyed the situation.

The five guys- most likely gang members- were stepping closer, as if they were vultures. Piper held her breath. They looked to all be about in their early to mid twenties and dressed in similar attire.

"You had a week, Joey. Where's the money?" One of the guys asked. This one was slightly burlier than the others as well as taller. Piper decided he was the leader.

"Look I don't have it! Carmen made of with the dough and the Jane. I got nothin' for you man. Just give me one more week, I swear I'll have it!" Joey defended. He was cowering against the cement wall and Piper looked around frantically for a weapon.

She couldn't allow a kid to get pummeled by a group of older men. She saw a board about the length and size of a bat and slowly crouched down and wrapped her hands around one end. She brought it closer to her leg and held it against her back before making sure she was out of sight again.

"Your time is up, Joey. You either have it or you don't." The leader said. Joey dropped his hands and hung his head.

"Well, then let's get this over with." The men stepped closer and Piper scooted along the wall towards the boys. She held the plank like a bat and swung blindly at the first guy, knocking him in the back of the head.

He fell to the ground with an audible 'oof!' and blacked out. Piper praised herself. At least she could knock out a full grown man.

The guy that had been standing next to him pulled a gun out of his waistband and aimed it at Piper. She hadn't exactly banked on them having weapons when she decided to help the poor boy.

"Hold it there, sweetheart. I don't want to shoot you. You should just walk away and pretend like you never saw anything. Capiche'?" He asked. Piper frowned.

"You seriously think that just because you aim a gun at me, I'm going to run away with my tail between my legs? I don't think so." Piper swung the board at his hand and the gun went flying before skidding to the ground, letting off a round before going still.

Everyone froze, hoping that they weren't the ones that were shot with the spit fire pistol. When nobody fell to the ground in agony, all Hell broke loose.

Two of the guys charged Piper while the other two hoisted Joey to his feet and began to drag him down the alley to a beat up 1970s Dodge Dart.

The guys stepped closer to Piper and she kicked one in the gut and then kneed him in the nose as the other guy wrapped his large arms around her, lifting her in the air.

The one she kicked fell to the ground unconcious and the plank she held hit the cement sidewalk with a clatter.

She slammed her heel into the knee of the guy hoisting her into the air and he faltered long enough for her to elbow him in the rib which made him hiss with pain.

Falling from his grip, she grabbed his arm and spun it behind his back in a locked position while forcing him onto his knees where she grabbed the plank from the ground and smacked him roughly in the back of the head. As his skull hit the cement with a thud, she jogged to the end of the alley to incapacitate the two gang members.

Shortly after, she ran from the alley with Joey in tow and a glock in hand to the hotel down the street.

As they enterred the building, an older looking lady with grey hair became wide eyed as she took in Piper and Joey's disheveled state.

"Ma'am, I need a first aid kit, and if any suspicious looking guys come in, call the cops immediately." Piper rattled off her instructions as the lady passed over a red first aid kit willingly and watched the glass door.

It had probably been the most exciting night she'd had in a while.

"Who the hell are you?" Joey asked. Piper sighed.

"You shouldn't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to." She pulled him down the hall into a small bathroom. Locking the door, she shoved him so he sat on the lid of the toilet seat. She took out pain relievers and inspected him.

He had a gash on his forehead that wasn't deep enough to need stitches, but deep enough to bleed excessively.

She soaked a cotton ball in peroxide and then dabbed it to his forehead.

"AH FUCK!" He shouted and Piper smacked him on the cheek.

"Shut up! If they're out there, they'll hear you and we're both dead." She hissed. She continued to clean the wound, Joey's face never once relaxing.

"What were you thinking, getting mixed up with those guys?" Piper asked. Joey shrugged and then winced.

"The same thing I was thinking when they cornered me." He replied.

Piper sighed then finished cleaning the head wound and bandaging it.

"Look, I'm going to give you fifty bucks. Get a room, eat some food, stay out of sight. Got it?" She asked. Joey nodded and Piper passed over the bills.

"If you do anything else, I'll kill you myself or turn you into those guys. You need to get your life back on track, kid." She sighed. Joey nodded grimly.

"I'm sorry you had to save my ass." Joey apologized. Piper shrugged and closed up the first aid kit.

"Don't mention it. I've been in similar situations. Not because of weed, but." She shrugged and Joey smiled kindly.

"If you ever need help, I'll be here." He took a pen from his pocket and wrote a number on her palm. She nodded and then left the bathroom.

Her phone beeped.

911.

It was from Vic and she ran out of the hotel towards the parking lot.

Two big beefy pairs of hands grabbed her shoulders and then suddenly, everything went black.
