Piper stared in the mirror, wondering if there was ever anything different about herself. She felt slightly off, as if something wasn't right. And it wasn't just her aching back from sleeping oddly on the couch. It was inside, like there was a shift in her personality.
She felt it as soon as she was awake, that deep and dark something awakening and poking around. It unsettled her, causing her to ponder over whether she was sick or not. Either way, something was different and she was going to do her damndest to figure out what it was, even if she had to enlist the help of her friends.
Despite Aaron and Piper having their own issues, Aaron had decided to stick around long after they discussed their plan to take down Angelo and put a stop to this madness. Piper took that as a sign of progress and didn't press the issue of him missing quality time with his precious Mixie.
She also chose not to comment on his sleeping in their living room. If she was going to allow him back around, even in the most odd places, she would have to get used to their rather peculiar sleeping arrangements.
With a sigh, she ran the brush through her hair and scrubbed her teeth thouroughly. Today was the day they were supposed to rob the bank for Angelo. A mysterious package with instructions had arrived early at their door, probably from one of his henchmen.
Aaron, Vic and Piper had all stared at the package, each slightly terrified to rip into it before Vic had said, "To Hell with it," And pulled out his pocket knife and opened it. Inside had been a blueprint of the bank and all the exits, along with masks and gloves. There was also a little note telling them where to go and when.
Piper felt butterflies fill her stomach and she had to sit down. Vic tried to comfort her, but the feeling that something was going to go wrong was still there. She had a bad feeling about the robbery, she had a bad feeling about Angelo, and just overall she felt like throwing up.
But today was the day. She was going to play her part and so were the guys. As she tugged on her jeans and pulled on a nice purple shirt, she grabbed her key and bag before taking the Dodge to the local police station. No doubt Angelo's goons were watching, but that's what she was hoping for.
They had come up with a plan, they were going to throw the police off their scent, while also tipping off a certain detective that someone was involved.
Piper drove quickly and with purpose. This was what she was meant to do. What she was here for. Hopefully Andrew wouldn't shun her after she spilled her dirty, filthy guts, hopefully he would stick around so that she could explain herself. But if he did run, she didn't blame him.
Piper has done nothing but lie to poor Andrew, and it was tearing her apart. She knew she didn't love him, but she had incredibly strong feelings for the man. She gave up her long time-crime ridden boyfriend for him. Although things have moved unreasonably fast these last weeks, she knew he was special, and she hoped he would stay with her despite her misleading him.
As she approached the Station, she parked and climbed out of her car. Officers in uniform were standing around and talking about random topics and cases.
Piper hurriedly stormed up to the front of the building and pulled the heavy door open. Making her way to the Service desk, she cleared her throat and tried to calm her shocked nerves.
This was a bad idea, from the very beginning. She should have just sat at the damn foster home and waited until she turned eighteen to make her escape. Kids made dumb decisions, that she knew. But the decisions she's made over the last two years were probably the worst anyone could ever have made.
The lady at the desk had dark mocha skin and long black hair. Piper approached her and smoothed her purple shirt. "Excuse me," Piper said. The lady looked up from a file that lay before her. She smiled politely at Piper and closed the folder.
