He was a member of the swimming varsity during his college years. There's a certain level of fame when you get to be part of university sports. After he graduated, he was offered to take on a job to be part of the coaching staff of the swimming varsity team. It's an honor to play for your school, and it's another thing if one gets to be part of training and developing student athletes. He and Earth, his boyfriend since college, were both part of the coaching team. Like typical relationships, there is that phase when both parties had to review priorities vis a vis their relationship. It was not hard for both to come to an understanding that they were growing apart and that things between them turned sour. Even if the decision was mutual, New still felt that he lost a big part of himself. For the longest time, his life revolved around Earth and the sport. Going separate may also impact career decisions. He loved the sport so much. He breathed the smell of chlorine for almost all his life. The pool has become like his air. But he needs to move on. He knew he needed to start anew. And he knew he can't start changes if he stays in the same place doing the same thing. At a loss of what he can do, he bravely set himself to a big leap, to relocate and start again.
