CHAPTER 14
"Please, Chai." I begged.
I called her, trying to ask for a favor.
Nagpaalam na ako sa parents ko, I didn't intend to lie. But when they asked something, napilitan ako na magsinungaling.
"Why do you need to go there when you can just celebrate here in our house?" Sabi ni mama nang matapos akong magpaalam.
"I-I, I mean, we just want to celebrate by going to a place where we can relax." I answered.
"Our neighbor told me that you're always sent home by someone, who is it?"
"I-I don't know what that person's talking about, Ma. Maybe she's referring to Chai." I lied.
Mom looked at me like she's not satisfied with my answer.
"Kasama mo ba si Chai?" She asked.
That's when I made a lie again.
"Sige na Chai, please. I promise this will be the last that I'll use your name. I promise."
I heard her sighed.
"Okay, I'll help you. Just please, please be careful Arie, okay? Malayo ang pupuntahan mo and I don't think I can sleep at night knowing that your parents think you're with me. Don't get me wrong. I know that Rence will not do anything to cause you harm, but I'm just afraid that your parents might caught us." She explained.
"Don't worry, Chai. I promise I'll be careful." I said assuring her.
"Okay, just update me every time, okay? As in every time. Maski pagc-cr mo i-text or i-chat mo sa akin so I won't overthink and for me to be ready sa mga isasagot kela tito and tita, hmm?"
"Yes, I will Chai! Thank you so much. I owe you a lot. I love you!" I said with so much happiness.
After that call, I started to pack and organize my things. I used a bigger luggage than the other one that I've used when we went to Cebu.
It's the first time that I'll be going out of town with someone, with Rence, that's why I don't know what clothes to bring and the thing I will be needing.
That's why I ended up bringing almost all of my things.
Hindi na maisara ang luggage ko kaya naman kailangan ko pang magbawas ng iilang damit.
Gusto ko lang naman masigurado na dala ko ang mga damit na pwede kong ipamalit in case magbago ang isip ko.
I was busy dealing with my clothes when my phone rang.
I answered it without minding the name of the caller.
"Hello."
"Ready ka na ba bukas?" Then my face lit up when I realized the owner of the voice.
"Yup!" I exclaimed. "I'm just struggling a bit."
"Bakit naman?"
I was hesitant to say at first 'coz I think it's too shallow to even say it to him.
"It's just that.....my luggage.. were already full—"
"Okay lang naman 'yan." Pagputol niya sa akin.
"—but I still have some things to pack." I shyly said.
"Gano'n kadami ang dadalhin mo?" He scoffed.
I didn't answer. Ashamed of what I just confessed.
"Malaki pa space ng luggage ko. Ilagay mo na lang muna sa isang bag tapos ilalagay ko na lang sa akin bukas."
