That was the only word that resonated in his head. For years that was his only goal, to regain his honor. After realizing that he wouldn't be able to do so, he did not simply give up. He gave in to the good inside of him.

He decide to follow his uncles advice. He was living happily in Ba Sing Se until Azula came.

He had said that to himself everyday, regretting his decision of going back to the fire Nation with his little sister and his father.

What hurt the must was the guilt of betraying his uncle.

He would never forgive himself for that.

One day he decided to go on a trip to get some fresh air and think, he came a cross the air temples.

Zuko sighed and couldn't help but feel guilty. Sure, it wasn't exactly his fault, he hadn't been the one to kill them or order the soldiers to do so but he still felt guilt.

It wasn't the only emotion he felt but it was one of the strongest since he had made many mistakes in his lifetime. And he decided that now was time to make up for them.

He didn't want to be part of the bad guys anymore. His father had excused the war saying that it was his great grandfather's plan, the war, that the fire Nation was very happy so they were just trying to spread the happiness. That was a lie.

Nobody felt happy.

In fact every Nation is scared of fire benders and the fire Nation.

Why is his family full of liars?! First it was great grandfather sozin, then it was his grandfather Azulon, His father Ozai, His sister Azula, even his own mother! The one he hasn't seen in years...

He put on a cape and went to the prison to visit his uncle.

– Uncle? – the boy asked.

– No, don't call me that, I don't deserve to be a prince. – he says as he looks down ashamed. – I'm here to bust you out. –

– But why? –

– Because uncle, I realized it was time for me to start fixing my mistakes. Starting with apologizing to you. Come let's get out here! – said Zuko as he unlocked the door.

– Are you sure about this? – Zuko looked back at his uncle and gave him a reassuring smile.

– More sure than I've ever been in my life. – The two walk out and pretend to be refugees in Ba Sing Se for months.
