Even as I reached for my wand, I knew it would do us no good, there was too many of them, but as I stood up, ready to die fighting, a loud, long note sounded, and a blaze of light flamed through the hollow.
Mr Weasleys car was thundering down the slope, head lights glaring, it's horn screeching, knocking spiders through the air. The car pulled to a stop in front of us and the door flung open.
"Get Fang!" Harry yelled as him and Ron dived into the car and I grabbed Fang and got in the back.
The car went on, hitting more spiders. We sped up the slope and out of the hollow, and we were very soon crashing through the Forest.
We all sat there for a good three minutes, our mouths agape.
"Are you guys OK?" Harry asked.
"Yeah, we almost died..." I replied.
"Really?" Ron said sarcastically, speaking for the first time in about half an hour. Fang flung himself at the car window, anxious to get out, so I opened it for him, watching him shoot out towards Hagrids house. Me and Harry got out too, and after a minute or so, Ron regained feeling in his limbs and followed.
The car reversed and dissapeard into the Forest as Ron was violently sick in Hagrids precious pumpkin patch.
"Follow the spiders," said Ron weakly, wiping vomit and spit from his lips. "I'll never forgive Hagrid, we're lucky to be alive!"
"I bet he thought Aragog wouldn't hurt friends of his." Said Harry.
"Yeah, that's exactly Hagrids problem, he always thinks monsters aren't as bad as they're made out, look where it's gotten him, a cell in Azkaban."
"Ron, the spiders are just trying to survive." I said.
"By eating us, Y/n, they're monsters. What was the point of sending us in there anyway? What have we acctually found out, I'd like to know."
"That Hagrid never did it." I replied as Harry grabbed the cloak from Hagrids table, "he's innocent."
We made our way back to the castle with the cloak covering us. As the castle loomed nearer, Harry twitched the cloak so our feet were hidden, then pushed the creaking front door ajar. We walked carefully back across the Entrance Hall and up the marble staircase, holding our breath as we passed corridors filled with watchful sentries patrolling.
At last we reached the safety of the Gryffindor common room, where the fire had burned itself into glowing ash. We climbed up to our dorm and Ron flopped onto his bed, not even bothering to get undressed.
I got in bed. We had hit dead ends everywhere, Riddle caught the wrong person, the Heir of Slytherin had gotten off, and no one can tell if it's the same person or a new one.
Just as I was dozing off, my mind exploded.
"Harry, Ron!" I hissed at the causing Harry to sit up and Ron to lazily turn around.
"You know that girl that died? Aragog said she was found in a bathroom, what if she's still there?" I said earning a gasp from Harry.
It took Ron a little longer to figure it out, but he understood eventually, bless him.
"You don't think... not Moaning Myrtle?"
*******
"All the times in that bloody bathroom, and she was just three toilets away." Ron said bitterly at breakfast the next day, "and we could've asked her."
It had been hard enough looking for spiders, but escaping our teachers to a girls bathroom, which also happened to be the scene of the first attack was going to be damn near impossible.
