Chapter 5: New Borns

Lilly's POV
The Next Day:

I was spending time with Jasper in the living room reading as Carlisle watched the news.

"Seattle is in a state of terror. Police are baffled by the escalating murders and disappearances. Theories range from a vicious new gang to a wildly active serial killer. Reporting live......"

"It's getting worse." Carlisle said as Bella and Edward walked in. "We're going to have to do something."

"It takes more than one of our kind to report to cause the damn age they're reporting." Jasper frowned. "Quite a few more. And they're undisciplined, conspicuous."

"It's newborns." Edward realizes what Jasper was getting at.

"What, like new vampires?" Bella asked.

"It's the first few months after the change." I explained.

"That's when we're at our most uncontrollable. Vicious. Insane with thirst." Jasper added.

"Something to look forward to." Emmett smirked.

I threw my book at his head.

"Ow! What was that for?!" Emmett complained.

"Don't encourage her! I just got her to think it out a little while 4 weeks ago!" I frowned.

"No one's trained these newborn's, but this isn't random." Jasper told Carlisle.

"Someone's creating an army." Carlisle said.

"Well, now we're definitely going to Seattle." Emmett stood up on the couch.

"Dude, were you raised in a barn?" I frowned, feeling extra annoyed today. We couldn't get just one day. One day of vampire free drama?

Emmett rolled his eyes at me.

"An army of vampires?" Bella asked in disbelief.

"And they've been created to fight someone." I frowned.

"We're the only clan even close to Seattle." Edward said.

"Regardless of why they were made, if we don't put a stop to them, the Volturi will." Carlisle said looking confused. "I'm surprised they've let it go on this long."

"Maybe they're behind it." Edward frowned. "In Italy, I read Aro's mind. He wants Alice, Lilly, and I to join him. He thinks our gifts would add to his power. But he knows we'll never choose him as long as our family is still alive."

"An army could solve that for him." Jasper growled. I instantly cuddled up to him, and he wrapped his arm around me to calm down.

"Edward, I don't think that we should wait until graduation. I think that you should change me now." Bella suggested.

That is the stupidest idea I've ever heard!

"Bella, no." Edward told her.

"I'm a liability now. I could be an asset." Bella defended.

"No you wouldn't." I frowned.

"What?" Bella looked at me hurt.

"You'd be a bigger liability as a newborn." Jasper told her the truth. May not be what she wants to hear, but she needs to. "Unable to control your instincts. An easy target."

"There's also your father to consider. And your mother." Carlisle told her. "Imagine how terrible it would be for them if you suddenly disappeared."

"But we're still going to kick someone's ass, right?" Emmett asked.

God, where is Rose when you need her?

"Emmett, sit down and shut up. You're not kicking anyone's ass." I stated.

"I'm not aloud to have any fun." Emmett pouted, crossing his arms as he sat down on the couch.

"Ready to go home?" Bella asked me.

"Yeah." I said grabbing my book from the couch and my bag before turning to Jasper.

"I love you." I said pecking his lips.

"I love you more, darlin'." Jasper kisses me back before Bella jumped on my back and I ran us back to her house within 30 seconds.

"Woah." Bella said as she wobbled, a little unbalanced after she jumped off. "How do you get so used to that?"

"Because I'm not human." I joke as I held her up until she could stand on her own.

"Hey." Bella said as we entered the kitchen. "Did you eat dinner yet?"

"Uh, no. No I haven't." Charlie said then let out a sigh. "This kid, Riley Biers, disappeared over a year ago, and his poor parents have been papering Seattle with these things ever since."

"You think they should just give up?" Bella asked.

"Well, I wouldn't if it were you. Either of you actually. Not ever." Charlie said making me smile.

After dinner with Charlie I finished up some homework before I headed to bed. I also used a spell to put up a soundproof and look proof barrier so Bella and Edward would have some privacy. But to the human eye it just looks like I'm asleep. Jasper ended up sneaking in with Edward. Jasper stayed until I fell asleep so he could hunt.
