Nancy checked the hoses carefully, her eyes scanning every inch of them making sure nothing was wrong. She checked 'clear' on her clipboard and exited the room.
"Newbie cool it" Ellie Mills walked past looking at Nancy who was clutching her clipboard like her life depended on it.
"I've been here for three months Mills; I don't classify as a Newbie anymore" Nancy told her as Mills rolled her eyes at her.
They both walked into the changing rooms and then into the bathroom both rinsing of their hands from their chores.
"Ladies lather up your hands then bring your asses to the kitchen. We're gonna need all the food we can get today before first call" Hope Rosen opened the door and peeked her head in as both women nodded and dried their hands, adjusting their uniform and walking out.
Nancy on the other hand was stressing like crazy, mostly due to the fact that their Captain wasn't here yet and god does she hate her Captain.
"Where is the Captain?" Nancy stressed as both Rosen and Mills smirked.
"Why do you hate her so much?" Mills asked and stared at her with a raised brow.
"She's unprofessional, immature, unorganized—" she stopped when Mills and Rosen tried to hide their smirks and looked behind Nancy.
"And right behind you" she heard that familiar voice speak up as she turned around to stared into those emerald green eyes. The Captains chestnut brown hair was tied into a high ponytail, her uniform was neat and organized, unexpectedly.
"Foods getting cold" O'Connor snapped Nancy out of her thoughts as she pushed past the rookie and headed for the kitchen.
She high fived Tripp and Skelton on her way in before heading towards Lieutenant Dominic Hammond.
"That... was beautiful" Skelton laughed as he and Tripp burst into laughter.
"I'm guessing you boys saw the show?" Nancy turned to them with a cringing face.
"Oh we saw it" Skelton grinned before walking past them and heading to their lockers.
Nancy took a deep breath before going towards Aiden O'Connor to explain herself, "Captain O'Connor I'm sorry, I didn't mean any of it and I—"
"I know" O'Connor smiled before walking past her and heading to the coffee machine.
Nancy groaned but followed her, "I checked all the hoses and equipment, though the jaws seem to have this thing in—" O'Connor turned to her with a smile and folded her arms.
"You do realize you've done everyone else's jobs; I gave them to the others for a reason" she smirked before grabbing her coffee and walking past her once again.
Nancy huffed and slammed the clipboard down; she went to go grab so food only to be interrupted by the siren.
"Truck 23, Truck 16, Ambulance 14. House fire..." the robotic voice trailed off as Nancy and everyone else ran to the trucks, all getting into their gear quickly before climbing in.
"Must be a big house" Tripp smiled as they all pulled out of the House and towards the address.
"Can't be that big" Skelton muttered just as they finally pulled up to the burning home.
They all jumped out and walked towards O'Connor, "Alright, the fires mainly located in the living room, Truck 23 head for there and hose it down. Truck 16 and I are gonna search for any remaining victims" O'Connor told them as they all nodded, "Masks on" she told them before putting her own on.
