Frankie was four years old the first time she found herself in foster care. The police had found them camped out inside the playhouse at the local park, their parents nowhere to be located - she had a faint memory of them being found on a bender with so much alcohol and drugs in their system that they almost felt like they had disappeared into another dimension. No family wanted to take four Southside kids under the age of nine, so they were split up.
As she lay in that lumpy bed underneath an old, scratchy blanket, Frankie realised that nothing was going to come easy for her. It only took a couple of days for Frank and Monica to pretend like they had cleaned up their act, gaining custody of their children once more. However, it didn't take much longer for them to repeat the same cycle of drunken idiocy that they regularly fell into.
To escape the chaos that whirled inside her home like a hurricane, Frankie took solace on a little spot on the kerb. As the years passed and their family grew, the little blonde girl grew up and found little time to reside on the sidewalk where she once spent so much time. As dreams filled her head of leaving Chicago and fulfilled whatever fantasies she desired, Frankie found herself taking care of her siblings and working to help keep a roof over their head since her parents weren't going to.
It seemed her dreams were set to fade into a mist that would haunt her mind for the rest of her mind, especially after she falls pregnant at sixteen.
