Chapter 1:

Now...

Darkness enveloped the room as his alarm went off. Maxwell groaned as he stopped it. Today was his first day of the new school year. He was a senior this year, and even with the death of his mother, he had still obtained his good grades and social status. Getting up, he cut on his light, and walked over to the mirror and looked at himself. His blonde hair had gotten slightly longer and had a messy bed head look. His green eyes sparkled with the specks of hazel showing. His smooth caramel skin always seemed to contrast his hair. He got dressed, and left his home. After his mom passed away, he inherited a lot of money and was able to have his home renovated and with a little mind manipulation he was able to live there. He headed off to school, and once he stepped foot back on campus, he was thrust into highschool life. People waved and hugged him, sometimes being popular was a drag. He looked at his schedule and found his first period was science. Heading into class, he found a lot of new faces. None that intrigued his interest, and the rest he remembered. He soon took his seat and laid his head on the table, trying to catch up on some missed sleep.

Raven was late, she still could never get used to living on her own. It had been two years since she left her pack and her father and to be honest she had never felt better. At first the nights alone were scary but she managed to snag an apartment and stay in a stable place. She was a long way away from home but she was happy. She had cut her long black locks of hair in a sporadic attempt to rid herself of her past and she ended up liking her style. She donned her black skinny jeans and high top converse and a dark blue and black corset. Putting on a half top leather jacket, she grabbed her backpack and left having no need for makeup. She felt that natural beauty was best and plus might've taken away from her piercing blue eyes. She reached school and ran to her first class. Upon entering, all eyes ended up on her. Some scowls and some non caring. The teacher cleared his throat and she soon took her seat.

The bell rang and Maxwell got up from his seat and headed to his next class, the day was dragging on and it was irritating him. He already wanted to go home and practice more so he could go out and find his mothers killer. He didn't want to be in school. As the classes went by, he soon was in his last period class English. He sat down and looked around the class. He soon spotted a pair of eyes looking at him, but as soon as he noticed the pair of blue eyes looked away. He shrugged it off and class started. Throughout the whole period the girl would look at him and stare away. It began to irritate him, and by the end of the period he had had enough. When the school bell rang, the students piled out and Maxwell tried to stop the girl. " Do you have a problem or something?" He asked. She had her back to him, and laughed. " No, you had blonde hair was shocked it wasn't fake." Maxwell scowled, " Look here you rude...." He grabbed her and turned her toward him, but before he could finish his sentence, images were thrust into his head. A black wolf with a blue streak down it's back howled Into the night, it piercing gold eyes clung to Maxwells memory. The sounds of bones breaking thundered his ears and then the image of a very naked girl stood in the black Wolfs place. He dropped his hand that had turned her and stumbled backwards. " What... Are you?" He said. The girls face darkened and her expression was one of panic. She ran off and left Maxwell stuck and a little lightheaded.

Raven panicked, this couldn't be happening. This boy have figured her out and he was going to tell her father. She couldn't go back to her home where she was expected to have a random mate and be a Luna to his Alpha. No, she was going to have to put away with the boy. By now she was at the back of the schools gates and she sniffed the air. His scent wasn't that far away, so she decided to follow him. Once he was away from many people, she would attack. There was a small forest that lead to the houses, not many people went in there because of how eerie it looked. The boy didn't seem to think so as he entered and disappeared from Ravens line of sight. She followed his scent and her eyes adjusted to the dark. It was sunny out, but once you enter the forest, it was as if some unknown force was making it darker. This would be her chance if any for her to attack him, and she felt she had the element of surprise on her side. She shed her corset shoes and jeans and ran at him. She jumped into the air, and her body shifted in mid jump. When she landed, a large black wolf stood in her place. She growled, and Maxwell spun around. He didn't seem as surprised as she would have hoped, but that didn't matter. She jumped at him and bared her teeth. Maxwell jumped out of the way and laughed. " Really you overgrown dog... Do you know who I am?" He taunted. She snarled at him and attacked again, this time she slashed her claws at him and was rewarded with a mangled shirt. Maxwell grew pissed. " That was my favorite shirt !" His eyes narrowed and Ravens head exploded in pain, and her body crumpled to the ground. She screamed out in pain and her body contorted back until she transformed into her human form. She clawed at her head and screamed for him to stop. The pain soon disappeared and she stood naked. " One moment while I get my clothes." She told him. He just turned away. After covering up, she walked back and stood in front of him. " So what now? Do you take me back to my father or?" Maxwell looked confused. " Um, why would I take you home when you attacked me?" When he said that Ravens face changed, could it be that he didn't know about her? " How do you know what I am?" She asked. Maxwell huffed and sat on a nearby rock. " First off, I was confused. I really didn't know what you were & I just needed to know." It was true, she seemed to be supernatural like he did and he had been feeling lonely. She smiled, " Oh, we'll my bad about attacking you, it's along story." Maxwell stood and walked over to her. " We'll open your mind and show me." Raven looked nervous. " Um what?" She said. " I'm a witch... Just open your mind and let me do the rest." She nodded, and felt as if she could trust this boy with her secret. She closed her eyes and felt his hands touch the sides of her head. A small tingling sensation overcame her and her images through her and into him. He saw about her father and how she ran away. Soon it all stopped, and they both opened their eyes. " I'm Maxwell Anderson." Maxwell said taking Ravens hand. " I'm Raven Chance."

They had spent the next few hours talking about their past and themselves and began to grow on one another. Raven had a very interesting personality and Maxwell had a very similar one. It was then that Maxwell checked his phone and noticed the time. " Hey, I have to go but ill see you tomorrow in class." Raven nodded and they headed their separate ways. When Maxwell reached home he was ecstatic. He had finally made a friend he could open up to and had no one just like him. Raven entered her apartment and was trying to seperate all the information she had gotten. Tommarow seemed as if it were going to be a good day.

Weeks had passed and Raven and Maxwell had gotten closer, close to the fact that they both had been over the others home several times. Raven explained how it was to be a wolf and how it all worked. She was a strong wolf, and the blue streak on her back was supposedly special. Her father always told her that the spirits had planned something great for her, but even now she had yet to figure out what it was. All she knew was that she was stronger, faster and more focused then any wolf she had met. She also noted how on the full moon, she had to change and sometimes it was a hassle and quite painful. She also went to tell him about how she didn't want a mate. She wasn't one to fall in love and really didn't believe in it. Plus, she wasn't ready to be so wrapped up in someone that she would loose herself. Maxwell was surprised and a little intrigued by the forced mating that the wolf spirits put on the werewolves. Still, he had something similar to that being a witch and all. He went on to explain his different abilities and ability to cast spells. He was the only witch around he knew of and his mother had told him maybe one of the strongest. They soon got to know almost everything about each other, and it was amazing.
