The midday sun warmed Pebblefrost's fur as she walked back into camp. Her amber eyes shone as she added her dove to the pile of fresh kill.

Her best friend, Brightrock, dropped her crow into the pile as well. "Well, I'm beat. You can stay up if you want, but I'm going to take a nap! I got up before the sun to go on the early dawn patrol, and all I did was hunt after that, so I am going to go and rest."

Pebblefrost leaned forward to touch noses with her. "Maybe you should eat something first! I saw Shrewtail catch a phoebe in the woods, maybe it's still up for grabs."

Brightrock's ears perked up. "Really? That's my favorite, and they are soo rare these days!" She searched the pile of food, using her muzzle to scoot other pieces of prey out of the way. When she drew her head back up, she was carrying the phoebe and nice, plump quail. "Here, I'm not letting you go without food either."

Pebblefrost purred her thanks, and the two she cats went over to a shaded area in the clearing to eat.

...

{Psst! I do not know what the Skyclan meeting call is, nor the leaders high rock or ledge or whatever. Since I have placed Skyclan in a different location near Highstones, I will have to make something up. Please bear with me. ;3}

"Let all cats old enough to climb the tallest trees gather below the Tallpine!" called Leapstar from the bottom branch of the huge pine that stood over their camp. Even though the branch was the lowest, you still had to climb the tree to reach it. Only the best jumper in the clan, Longleap, could reach it in a single bound.

Slowly the clan cats gathered around, waiting to hear what their leader had to say. Crowfoot, Skyclan's deputy, hopped up onto a rock leaning against Tallpine to sit for the clan meeting.

"Skyclan," said Leapstar as his yellow and white fur rustled along with the breeze. "I have both good and bad news. I am afraid that our deputy, Crowfoot, is resigning."

Gasps of disbelief rippled through the cats below. Crowfoot nodded his head. "What he says, is true. I will no longer be the deputy of Skyclan. I feel as though my heart is telling me to be a warrior, and that it is not in my destiny to continue on as a deputy, or become your leader."

Crowfoot leaped down and out of the tree, leaving his deputy rank behind. He was now a warrior, where his heart longed to be.

Leapstar stood on the branch with incredible balance, and continued to speak. "With the loss of a deputy, comes a new deputy. I have yet to choose a new deputy, and I shall now go in my den to think things over. This clan meeting is now over."

Leapstar slid down the tree and returned to his den. The other cats who where left sitting at the bottom of the began to speak with one another. Pebblefrost overheard some of them discussing the new deputy, while others where welcoming Crowfoot back into the warrior rank.

She got up from her sitting position and decided to look for the new warrior amongst the other cats. She noticed a small group of cats sitting near the edge of the clearing, and she decided to check there. As she got closer, she saw Tornear and her apprentice, Dovepaw talking with Crowfoot. As they moved away, she came up and sat beside him. "Hey Crowfoot, congratulations!"

Crowfoot looked up and smiled. "Oh, thank you. How have you been lately?"

"I'm doing just fine! How bout' you?"

Crowfoot glanced away. "I'm doing great, and I feel like I made the right decision."

Pebblefrost flicked her ear. "If your heart is telling you to be a warrior, then you did make the right decision. Besides, now we can hang out more!"

Crowfoot chuckled, "Ahh, that is true." He lay down. "It feels good to be a warrior again, even if it's just been for a little while. No scheduling patrols, no evaluating the apprentices, and no more war discussions with Leapstar!"

Pebblefrost lowered her head. "Oh, I figured you liked doing those things. You seemed like the perfect cat for the job."

"Well, every cat has their thing, and doing all of that wasn't it for me. Starclan told me I was born to be a warrior."

The gray and white she cat perked her ears. "Starclan, you say?"

Crowfoot looked at the ground sheepishly. "Well... Starclan visited me in a dream. They showed me that if I became leader, the clan would fall apart. I assumed that if they didn't want me to be leader, I shouldn't be in line for leader."

"Ohh, but did they say that they wanted you to be a warrior though?"

Crowfoot looked away. "Yes? I- I don't know."

Pebblefrost smiled. "Hey, Starclan is mysterious. You don't know what there gonna tell ya!" Flicking her tail goodbye, she trotted off towards the warriors den.
