Silence | Park Sunghoon

"y/n, you're an amazing skater," sunghoon said.

the girl got a bit flustered considering that the compliment came from someone who has been skating for almost his entire life.

everyone knew him as 'park sunghoon the ice skater.'

she smiled, "you think so?" and he nodded.

the whole time they were skating, laughter filled the rink. when either one of them fell, the other laughed. sunghoon was not so used to seeing this side to y/n. normally, she was quiet and reserved.

seeing this side, the side no one had ever seen before, it made sunghoon feel special.

and considering y/n had not practiced and trained as long as sunghoon, she was very talented. she had potential.

they exited the rink, only to see that it wasn't raining anymore, therefore they wouldn't need an umbrella.

they started walking, "y/n?" sunghoon called out her name.

"yeah?" she turned her head towards him.

"why don't you talk to people at school?" he asked her.

she looked down at her feet, while walking.

"when i was younger, no one really talked to me. i didn't have any friends," she said, sunghoon listening.

"that was, until i met him,

yang jungwon."

she continued, "he was nice and caring towards me, in ways no one had ever been before."

"whenever someone was being rude to me, he'd always defend me."

a sigh reached her mouth, "he asked me out and we started dating. i started coming out of my shell."

y/n lashes for a slight second, "but one day, i saw jungwon with another girl, smiling at her like the way he used to smile at me."

this left sunghoon confused, then why did they act all lovey-dovey in school?

"i know you're probably thinking, then why did they act like that at school today," she chuckled.

sunghoon's eyes grew wide, because the girl read his mind.

"truth be told, i think both of us still have a little piece in our heart that still loves each other," she chuckled.

"if we're being honest, i don't think i could ever love someone as much as i did and do love jungwon," y/n said.

he rolled his eyes, "can't you try to get over him? you saw him with that other girl earlier, was that the girl you saw him with that one day?" he asked.

she nodded, then proceeded, " i think that whenever he made up lies to tell me, just to go be with that girl, it made me scared. i grew a fear of trusting people," she admitted.

sunghoon wondered why the girl was telling him all of this, but he still enjoyed hearing it. no one he knew had ever got to see this side of her.

"you probably think I'm being annoying," she sighed.

he grabbed her hand, making the girl look at him with big eyes, "no, i don't. and i won't tell anyone, you can trust me. i'll be the new person you can talk to about anything," he smiled.

her smile grew brightly. she had only been socializing with him for about 8 hours, but she couldn't help but feel something towards him already.

they arrived at y/n's house, still holding hands, & she looked down at their hands.

"ah, sorry," sunghoon apologized, letting go.

the girl laughed, "you're fine," she told him.

it was silent for a minute until y/n spoke up.

"thank you for walking me home, and letting me vent to you about everything," she said.

he smiled, "of course. we're best friends now."

y/n raised her eyebrow and smiled lightly, "right. goodnight sunghoon. get home safe."

she began walking towards the entrance of her home.

"goodnight y/n!" sunghoon yelled.

that night, both of them went to bed with a smile on their face.
