" – the Light's been having issues with its Council. Right now, these few are the ones sowing discourse." Nightwing pressed a button, the holographic screen showing four silhouettes.
"Who's that?" Blue Beetle asked, pointing at the horned figure with a pale, pinched chin.
"Klarion the Witch Boy. Lord of Chaos. He's not too much of a threat as long as you distract him."
"Lord?" Wondergirl frowned. "He looks our age."
"He acts even younger." Nightwing said. "Anyway, he's been seen with Queen Bee. We don't know where right now, but once the location's confirmed, we're going to get the green light for a simple recon mission. This briefing is just a heads-up so you're not surprised next week."
"He hasn't been sighted near Bludhaven, has he?" Batgirl asked.
Nightwing shook his head. "I drove him off when we first moved in. Hasn't been back since."
"Why?" Impulse asked through a mouthful of chips. "What's in Bludhaven?"
Nightwing and Batgirl shared a look of non-verbal deliberation. Impulse didn't notice their hesitation, too busy holding the corner of the chip bag to his mouth. Neither did Blue Beetle, who was trying to hit the bottom of the bag so Impulse would choke, but Wondergirl did.
"You don't have to tell us," she said quickly. "If it's not relevant to the mission, we don't have to know."
"No, it's alright," Nightwing said. "My girlfriend."
Three pairs of eyes stared at him. Impulse slowly lowered the chip bag. "You have a girlfriend?"
"Why are you surprised?" Blue Beetle shook his head. "Dude's a chick magnet. What's she got to do with this, though?"
"She lives with me, and she's..." Nightwing hesitated. Batgirl shrugged. It's your choice. And your head. "She's got bad history with Klarion."
"Bad history - " Impulse's eyes widened – "Hold on, I remember now! Klarion's her ex!"
"Okay, that's not what I said."
"Hold on," Blue Beetle exclaimed. "Klarion's her ex?"
"Come on, guys, don't - "
"How the hell does anyone date that?" Wondergirl asked in awe, narrowing her eyes at the portrait on the screen.
"It was complicated. Impulse, how do you know - ?"
"Can we meet her?" Impulse interrupted. "Can we? Please, please, please?"
"Right, calm down." Nightwing said sternly, although there was a small smile on his face. "I'll talk to her, but I make no promises. It's her choice on whether she wants to come or not."
Impulse and Blue Beetle cheered. Wondergirl glowed with excitement.
"Should we make her some food?" Impulse asked, speaking twice as fast now. "I can make cookies – M'gann taught me how."
Nightwing shook his head, amused. "It's up to you. Briefing dismissed. Don't forget the mission!" He called after the three second-phase members of the team, all arguing and discussing the preparations for Faye's arrival.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Batgirl asked, watching Impulse, Blue Beetle and Wondergirl leave the Cave's main room.
"No," Nightwing sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I'm not. Still, they asked."
"Didn't mean you had to answer."
"I'm not going to lie or beat around the bush the way Batman used to. Besides, I have considered introducing her at some point."
