Alright.....Chapter Two

_________

YEARS LATER

"Jason, Jason, Jason. My favorite older brother, it's about time I've knocked some sense into you. If you wait any longer, someone else is going to sweep her off her feet," Cleo said.

Jason groaned, "Yes, I know, it's just what if she says no."

"Jason, I swear to goodness gracious, if you don't ask her on a date I will personally whip your butt with a leather belt," Cleo growled.

Jason's eyes widened, "You wouldn't."

"I would and you know I will. Jason, you're an idiot sometimes," Cleo said, whacking his head. "Whip up some of that courage you always say you have and ask."

Jason shrugged, "I'm broke."

"Stop changing the subject! I know you have been saving up for this since you met her. I also know about the hidden stash of money behind the cabinet."

"How?!"

"My boyfriend is a detective. I picked up a few things."

"Fine. I'll ask her, but I'm gonna be incredibly nervous."

"Bro. You got this, everyone gets nervous. It's easier than applying for a job."

Jason stood from the couch, "Yeah. Okay, I gotta run. Make sure to lock the door when you leave."

"Go get her."

Jason grabbed his car keys and walked to his car. Flowers or chocolate? He thought. "Wait, she doesn't like chocolate. Flowers it is." Jason stopped walking, "Wait, she doesn't have a favorite flower either. Why am I talking out loud?" Jason shook his head. He got into his car and gripped the steering wheel. "Okay, roses are too romantic, and no bright ones either. Jason, dude, chill out. She's not the Queen of England. But I should treat her like one. Ugh, why not just scrap the flowers and get her food? She loves food. No, no, no, I need to stay professional. So, do food and flowers. I am a genius."

Jason drove to Flora's and picked out a variety of flowers. Then he drove to get Chinese food. The closer he got to her apartment the more nervous he became. His forehead started to sweat, and his face grew warm thinking about her. He parked in front of her complex and got out. He jumped around to get the jitters out, but they remained. He grabbed the flowers and food and walked up to the door. He rang the doorbell. His stomach was rolling over. The seconds on his watch seemed to pass by slowly. It seemed like forever, but the door opened.

"Hey Diana," he said nervously.

Diana sat in her room thinking about Monday. Flowers and my favorite food? What's with him? He was more nervous than ever. Diana laughed. This boy, my best friend actually got nervous around me. She shook her head, "Nervous around me? Something is up with him. Well, I guess I'll find out tomorrow night."

Thursday night seemed to take forever to finally arrive. She didn't sleep well the night before. When she finally got out of bed it was only seven a.m. She thought running would kill some time, but she completed her course too fast. She jumped on her bike and decided to take a trail. The wind zipping past her face and the cold air fueled her stamina, allowing her to go faster for a longer amount of time. She finished the trail and biked home. Her 20-mile bike ride took about an hour. She sat on her couch and looked at the time. She slouched and groaned, "Why? I've been doing something, why is time slow today?" After five minutes of doing nothing, she walked over to her desk and pulled up her school assignments. She finished her geology assignment and decided she was not going to spend her free time on schoolwork. She decided to work on writing her story. It was about how a group of friends became superheroes, but a few of them turned on each other. She wrote as if she was watching a movie, so technically it was more like a movie script with more definition. Some of the characters reflected the people in her life, so she was able to feel connected to her story. After some time she looked up from her computer. The time read 9:02 a.m. and she had to be at work in a half-hour.
