Diana woke up to her peaceful bluebird ringtone alarm. This morning, she admired the sun reaching across her bedroom floor. Today, she felt like going on a hike. "What could go wrong?" she asked herself. She packed a few supplies, got into her car, and drove into the mountains. When she arrived at her destination, her phone rang, "Hello?" she asked.
"Morning sunshine," Jason said. " How are you this lovely morning?"
"Good. I'm going on a hike soon, there won't be any service," Diana replied.
"Oh, okay. Maybe I could join you?" he asked.
"Sure. I'm at The Burney Falls Trailhead, meet you there."
"Okay, bye." Diana ended the call.
It took Jason 20 minutes to arrive. He climbed out of his car and walked towards Diana. "What took you so long?" Diana asked.
"There was an accident that caused traffic."
"Ah, okay. What's with the hood?"
"Oh, I am feeling cold this morning."
"Why do I feel like you are lying?" she said, and then pulled off his hood. His hair was a big floof. His hair reflected some of the sunlight, and it looked like his hair was on fire. "Sheesh, lion's mane this morning, am I right?" Diana said laughing.
"Haha, yep, the humidity isn't helping. Like at all. But besides that, isn't the morning beautiful?"
"Yeah, I love it so much," she replied.
"Well enough about the hair, and let's get moving," and they started their adventure. Walking down the first hill the falls could be heard. Once they got to the bottom, they could see it. Raging waters roared over the cliffs, creating a sea of mist. The trail by the waterfall was soaked in water.
"Oh, what a beautiful sight," Diana said, gazing at the nature around her.
"It's much more awesome than I expected it to be." Diana didn't know it, but while she watched the water, Jason's attention was towards her. Wow, how lucky am I? He said to himself, then he smirked.
"What is it?" Diana questioned.
"Oh, nothing," he smiled even harder. "This is a beautiful sight, but you're even more beautiful than nature itself."
"Jason, you smug, cheesy dork!" she said laughing.
"I try to be." They started laughing so hard they almost passed out from the lack of oxygen. "Phew, I haven't laughed that hard in years," Diana said.
"Of course not, only because no one makes you laugh as your best friend does," Jason said blushing.
Diana hit his arm, "There you go again with your humor. And you're right, no one has beat your sense of humor. Anyway, this was a great..."
Jason interrupted, "Do you hear that?"
"No,"
"I think I hear something in the bushes." Diana took a fighting stance. Jason tensed, waiting for something to happen. "I'm going to check it out. Stay here," Jason commanded before disappearing into the bushes.
Diana started pacing back and forth. "Jason!?" she yelled. Suddenly all the hair on her neck stood up. A low growl came from the bushes. Diana started freaking out. She didn't like fights she couldn't win, and this was one of those moments. She froze, unable to think of what to do. "Okay, okay, what should I do?" She said to herself.
"AHH!!..." she heard Jason screaming. "Someone help me!!"
"Oh gosh, what do I do?!" Diana screamed.
