Lunar watched as the danger room transformed into a rubble strewn landscape where the sky was clouded by smoke from pollution as well as the flames that burned here and there all around them. At first she couldn’t see what they were supposed to be fighting but then the ground started shaking and a giant metal robot started walking towards them from the smoke. Even though she knew anything that happened in here wouldn’t hurt her, too badly, as she looked at their opponent she felt like if she didn’t run she would be taken down painfully.
“Cyclops what’s the plan?” Bobby asked as they looked towards their leader.
“Storm lead Bobby and Rogue around behind it, I’ll take the other two and distract it from here.” Cyclops replied.
Lunar shifted into her wolf form and growled at the robot that was still headed towards them while Colossus turned his skin into metal. Cyclops however stood there calmly as the robot got closer and closer to them, after it was about two steps away from simply stepping on and crushing them Colossus spoke up.
“What are we doing?” He shouted. “We have to move or attack it!”
Cyclops continued to look up as another step shook the ground before turning the dial on his visor and blasting the robot in the head. It stopped its progress towards them for a moment, which allowed time for the three of them to move out of the way before it could recover.
“Lunar what’s the other team’s status?” Cyclops asked as they hid behind a pile of rubble.
Lunar reached out her mind and found Storm’s. “Are you ready to attack yet?”
Almost just a bit longer, Storm thought back.
“Their almost in position.” Lunar informed Cyclops.
He nodded and was about to give another command when the pile of rubble they had been hiding behind was knocked over by the robot as it spotted them. Colossus used his strength to knock most of it away as they ran but wasn’t paying attention and was knocked down by a larger support beam. Cyclops used his lasers to break through the bar while Lunar bit at the cords on the robot’s legs, she bit down on a thicker one and felt electricity jolt through her before the robot flung her off. She landed beside a small fire a few yards away and slowly got back to her feet, to her satisfaction the robot was now having trouble walking with that leg, which was still shooting off sparks, and moving slower than before.
“Lunar get down!” Cyclops shouted a warning.
Lunar ducked behind more rubble just as a yellow beam of energy was shot all around from the robot’s eyes, she waited a few minutes afterwards to make sure it was safe before coming out to join the fighting again. Storm flew up from where her team had been hiding and soon the smoke cleared to be replaced by a thunderstorm. Bobby walked onto the highest pile of cement and rubble and made spikes of ice shoot out from the side of it to get closer to the robot that was still distracted by Storm’s floating figure. Lunar howled to get its attention and it turned towards her with its yellow eyes starting to glow for another attack, Cyclops shot it with his own optic blast before it could however and one of the eyes went out.
“Cyclops, get Colossus and retreat! Bobby’s ready to kill it!” Lunar commanded as she got behind a metal slab.
She heard Bobby slide past a few minutes later on a slide made of ice with a blast of cold air, she turned to watch as he continued to circle the robot and shoot at the wires on its legs while Storm aimed another lightning bold at its neck causing its other eye to dim. Bobby sent one last spike of ice through its skull before the robot slowly fell with a groaning sound. The danger room returned to normal and Lunar shifted back into human form to rejoin the others.
“So how fast did we defeat it?” Rogue asked.
“Better than last time.” Storm replied simply as she checked the monitor.
“Awesome.” Colossus grinned.
“Well now you have your normal classes to get to if I remember correctly.” Scott replied before dismissing them to follow Storm. “Ready to go to Alkali Lake? We’ll have to take my motorcycle since Logan never returned my car.”
“Yeah le-” Lunar paused as she heard the Professor’s voice speaking to her. “Actually Xavier wants to see me about my training.”
“But that’s usually not until noon.”
“I know…” Lunar replied shaking her head. “Look I’ll see you afterwards right? Then we can go.”
“Of course, the Professor wouldn’t like it very much if you just left without hearing what he has to say.” Scott agreed. “Meet me in my classroom after your done.”
Lunar nodded and walked off towards Xavier’s office perplexed as to why he would want to meet for her telepathic training so early.
