“Lunar follow me.” Professor Xavier told her as Lunar stepped into his office.

She let him leave ahead of her and followed by his side. “What’s this about? I don’t go to my training until later.”

“This is important, I’m not going to live forever and now that Jean is gone you are the only other telepath currently at this school.” Xavier replied.

Lunar cast him a confused look. “Professor?”

Charles didn’t respond and although Lunar had been training to use her telepathy in human form it still wasn’t strong enough to break through his mental barrier that was currently blocking her from his thoughts. They went back down to the lower levels where the danger room was located and after a few more turns she realized where they were going.

“Professor, I can’t.” Lunar protested. “I- I don’t know what will happen. I’m not strong enough.”

Xavier let Cerebro’s lock scan his eye to unlock the door before wheeling himself inside. “You have to be.”

“No, I don’t. The school has you for this… besides I might not stay here forever.”

He gave her a small smile. “I think you’re lying Lunar. You know you’re going to stay as long as you have that one person you can trust.”

Lunar shot him a faint glare before being handed the Cerebro helmet and putting it on cautiously. “I hope you know what you’re doing Professor.”

Xavier paused for a moment before activating Cerebro and Lunar felt him linking his mind to Lunar’s to hers. Suddenly an the entire map of the globe was all around her with billions of red and white lights for everyone living on the planet, people’s thoughts and emotions bombarded her mind and she felt herself sinking to the ground but couldn’t find it in her to move and rip the helmet off her head. Xavier seemed to be shouting at her but she couldn’t tell if it was really him yelling or if it was her reading his mind, she tried to focus on his mind and block the others out but she couldn’t block out the entire world of thoughts.

The next thing Lunar realized was that she was convulsing on the ground with blood running out of her mouth. It suddenly seemed much quieter now that the helmet had been taken off and as she began to recover she could start comprehending who was talking.

“What were you thinking Charles?” Storm asked in shock as she glanced down at Lunar’s form.

“I know she can handle it Storm.” Xavier replied. “She just needs practice.”

            “She nearly died!”

Lunar coughed and stood up weakly as the room spun around her. “I can… hear what you’re saying you know.”

Storm helped steady her and led her out of Cerebro. “Come on we need to get you to the medical room.”

“No…” Lunar managed to get her arm free. “I… I need to find Scott.”

“Lunar go with Storm.” Professor X ordered.

“I’ll be fine.” Anger and fear that wasn’t her own flashed through Lunar’s mind and she winced before catching a glimpse of Alkali Lake, surging water, and a flash of familiar looking claws. “I have to go! Now!”

“You can’t.” Storm grabbed her again and dragged her away towards the medical room.

Lunar felt Charles read her mind as he followed them before he turned to Storm. “Take her to Scott, I think she’s fine for now. She’s seen something important that all three of you need to respond to immediately.”

“Professor what’s going on?” Storm asked worriedly.

“Lunar will explain on the way.” Xavier replied. “Just get to Alkali Lake before it’s too late.”

“Right away Professor.” Storm sighed and changed course, now walking at a more rapid pace that Lunar happily matched now that she wasn’t being fussed over for the Cerebro accident.
