In between Independence and Pride

It's been five days since Angel's accident and he was leaving the hospital finally today.

Ehi still hadn't told Angel that she was canceling on him because of Iyoma. Her hands were tied honestly, Iyoma had hit her with an ultimatum. It was either her or Angel, before her accident with Bisi, she probably wouldn't have cared. She would have gone with Angel anyway regardless of Iyoma's threat but now she couldn't.

She realized that if Iyoma felt alone for a minute and she wasn't there, Iyoma would go running back to Bisi and she couldn't have that.

She didn't trust Bisi to keep his mouth shut even if he'd said he would.

That's one sexy mouth though....

She frowned instantly and started to think of all the despicable things she used to think of Bisi before they had sex. None of those things could come to mind now because she remembered Bisi had said he hadn't done or said anything of such nature to Iyoma.

But then, she couldn't trust Bisi. But did she really believe all those things Iyoma had said about Bisi?

She groaned because she realized she was thinking way too much about Bisi and Iyoma and she didn't want that. She hated that her thoughts always strayed to Bisi every now and then.

'Are you okay? You look weird. Who looks like they are about to kill when they are having cake and ice cream?' Iyoma asked her.

Ehi rolled her eyes and decided not to reply her but then Angel was also looking at her concerned. 'I agree with Iyoma, what's up?' he said.

'You haven't even tasted the cake?' Iyoma pointed out. 'Wo if you don't want it, let me eat it na' Iyoma said and snatched the cupcake from Ehi.

'See your mouth, you like food too much. F.F.O'  Ehi mocked before setting the cup of ice cream on the table. 'You had yours, you had Angel's, and now you're having mine. All you know how to do is eat, for food only' Ehi hissed finally directing back the attention to Iyoma.

Iyoma giggled unapologetically 'How do you think I got this curves bitch?' Iyoma asked as she ate Ehi's cupcake.

'See your big mouth, you've single-handedly finished Angel's treat' Ehi scolded.

'Welllllll.....in my defense, that's what friends do for their sick friends. Angel wouldn't have finished three cupcakes  and three cups of ice cream, secondly Elizabeth knew we were coming to see him this morning that's why she got all three of us dessert. Lastly, sick people rarely have appetite to eat anything, that's why we need to visit and help them finish their provisions before they get discharged. Am I right or am I right?' Iyoma asked before she snatched up Ehi's cup of ice cream.

Angel chuckled while Ehi snorted, 'Iyoma you're really something. By the way, I'm not sick but I totally agree with you' Angel said.

Ehi was about to disagree when Madam E walked into the room. 'I've sorted out everything with the doctor, a nurse will soon be here to help you get ready to leave. Unfortunately I have to leave now, I have an important meeting to attend' Madam E said to Angel.

'I understand, I appreciate everything' Angel said earnestly. Madam E nodded before turning to Ehi and Iyoma. 'Girls, I trust you to take care of him in my absence' she said in her usual cool as a cucumber manner.

'Sure' Iyoma replied while Ehi just nodded. 'Ehi please see me to my car' Madam E said before walking out of the room. Ehi followed suit wondering why the woman wanted to see her privately.

When they reached the parking lot, Madam E turned to Ehi and smiled. 'I really appreciate you being there for Angel, despite the fact that he's just your neighbor. You're a good neighbor and I appreciate' Madam E said her lips curving into what would be a smirk.

Ehi nodded 'It's nothing ma, Angel would have done the same for me' Ehi responded. 'Yes, no doubt about that. Anyway that's not why I called you here' Madam E said and opened her fancy clutch. She took out a car key and handed it to Ehi. 'My driver will be here in ten minutes to take you three home. Angel's car is already in the compound and for some reason he wants you to have the keys' Madam E said.

'Ohhhh' Ehi said inaudibly and took the keys from Madam E.

'That's not all....Angel mentioned that you worked for Kayode at Hotel Magnolia' She said.

Ehi nodded 'I can't imagine how anyone would enjoy working for that pig and his spoiled brat of a wife. Anyway, if you ever need an upgrade, I'd be happy to help you' Madam E dipped her hand in her clutch again and took out her card. She handed it to Ehi.

'How...how do you know Mr Kayode?' Ehi asked.

'His father and my brother started Hotel magnolia back in the day, my brother pulled out eventually. So glad he did before the hotel was handed to that fool' Madam E said coldly.

Ehi slipped the card into her pocket and nodded. 'Thanks ma' Ehi said gratefully.

'I haven't done anything yet, have a nice day' Madam E responded and turned to her car. 'You too ma' Ehi said and walked back into the hospital.

Madam E was right about Kayode being a pig and also right about how it was difficult to work with Kayode but she didn't want to leave yet.

She wanted to get a job herself, she didn't want Madam E's connection or Angel's help. For that reason alone, she wasn't going to call Madam E.

Are you Independent or a sucker for suffering?

She couldn't answer the question, she had an opportunity now but she didn't want to take it because she wanted to play miss independent.

Independence or Pride?

She wondered too as she walked back to the hospital.
