Elsa's POV
All the girls quickly looked at the handsome man and curtsied. He whispered something to Lady Victoria nd she looked at me.
She nodded and the man left. I quickly glanced to look at my tray. I was sitting in the corner of the room to avoid Anna. I saw her enter the room with Mary and the twins. I tried to hide but she noticed me quickly. Surprisingly, she looked away. Right now, I just wanted to feel alone. I just wanted to shut the world out. Actually, I didn't know how to feel. I was having mixed emotions.
I was scared.
I was scared that John was going to you know. I was scared that I was going to hurt Anna again.
I was scared that I was going to hurt everyone.
I am scared.
I saw her go with Lydia and the other girls to go sit at the table. She saw me and smiled. She waved me to come over. I hesitated.
I slowly got up and walked towards the table.
"Hello, Elsa!," Mary said.
I smiled and said, "Hello."
"Sooooo... where were you at lunch?," Linda asked.
I opened my mouth to answer but I quickly shut it.
"Erm......Uh.... Lady Rebecca still needed me.," I quickly said.
All the girls gave me weird looks but quickly changed the subject.
"So what color did you guys pick for your dress?," Mary asked.
"I chose a forest green.," Anna said.
"I chose a blue.," I said while taking a bite of my salad.
"Well, you might have noticed but the higher ranking servants get the more beautiful patterns.," Mary said.
"I think they are stuck up.," Lisa said.
"Mary, why aren't you in the higher ranking servants chamber? You are Lady Kristina's favorite.," Linda asked.
"Apparantely, Lady Victoria won't let me transfer. I need to stay near Lydia.," Mary said.
"What is the difference between us and them?," I asked.
"Well, they get to serve one Lady or Lord. In other words they are their personal servants or favorites. They get more privillages and they get more noticed. Us on the other hand, we are just a speck of dust to the palace. We are assigned different tasks at different times and we get the cheap stuff.," Mary explained.
"Some are nice, but most are either snobs or cruel to the lower ranking. Which is us.," Linda said.
"All right girls, hurry and eat because it is almost time for bed.," Lady Victoria said while entering the room.
Some got up and put their trays on the cart. The twins got up and walked away.
I hurried and finished my food. I got up but Anna grabbed my arm.
"Elsa, why were you avoiding me at lunch?," Anna asked. "Are you shutting me out again?!"
I widened my eyes at her question.
"I'm sorry Anna. I had to go to the bathroom badly.," I lied while pulling on a fake smile.
Anna looked relaxed and got up. We walked towards the cart and placed our trays there.
I went to my cubbie and threw on my nightgown. Anna got a smaller one and did not look like a marshmallow.
Before I could grab my pillows Lady Victoria came up to me. I curtsied and she told me something that made me shocked.
