Episode Four: Someone To Defend

It's been two days since the fight with Kiba, which I do solemnly regret. I guess in the end I lost control, he's now in the hospital. I checked on him four times yesterday to alpoigize, he doesn't seem angry, he puts on a smile like he's fine, but I know otherwise. He doesn't like me.

The medical ninjas said that Kiba is fine, other than the cut and the bruise. They said he shouldn't go to the academy for a little, he needs rest. They don't want him to worsen his bruise. I'm glad I didn't cause any greater damage.

Iruka sensei said he didn't want Kiba missing anything on combat so he's reviewing older lessons with the class until Kiba's back, so it's new lessons to me, we've just been practicing throwing shuriken at targets, easy stuff like that.

Today is Saturday so Kiba should be back at the academy on Monday, I'm guessing we're doing combat again but this time weapons and jutsu are allowed.

I decided to walk around the village, for I have nothing better todo.

I found myself sitting at the swings again. I feel like an empty vessel sometimes. I don't know my past, I don't know if I have family, I only know about the past two years. The night was slowly darkening and getting colder.

I felt sleepy, I wanted to close my eyes.."Get away from me!" I heard a deafening shout in my ear, it scared me so much I fell from the swing. No one was near me? Where did that scream come from? "You don't belong here demon!" I heard it again.

I started running towards the busy streets, I hoped to the roofs and ran towards the yelling. Is there some kind of criminal loose in the village?

"I'm not a monster! Stop looking at me like that!" I heard a boys voice shout. What could be going on?

"Go back to hell!" It was yet another yell. I stopped and crouched as I looked down I saw a boy my age, and three adults around him.

"No, you'll see! I'll become the greatest hokage! I'll earn respect from everyone! Believe it!" The boy exclaimed.

"You're just a nuisance in this world, everyone's waiting for you to screw up, there's no place for you here!" One of the men said.
Why are these people being so cruel? I couldn't take it anymore.

I jumped down from the roof, I landed in front of the boy facing the men. "You people should be ashamed of your selves! Scolding a kid won't get you anywhere in life!" I shouted at them.

"Get out of my way." One of the men swung his hand for me, I stood still. Letting him slap me.

Instinctively, I punched the man in his stomach. He and the two others walked away, still saying hurtful words as the left.

"Wait, you're that new guy at the academy, Katashi." I turned around at the voice.

"You do look familiar, what's your name?" I asked. "I'm Naruto Uzumaki, the next Hokage, believe it." He said cockily crossing his arms.

"Ha, I've heard. what were those people talking about?" I asked curiously.

"I'm not sure, everyone just seems to despise me, most of the adults and kids at school." Naruto said.

"That's awful, I can't understand why people would want to be so cruel to one another." I said sympathetically.

"It's alright, I'm used to it." Naruto smiled. "Why would you be used to it? That's not alright." I said worried. "No one should have to go through that."

"Katashi, why do you care so much? I don't really even know you." He asked.

"I just, ever since I can remember, I've always had comrades I can go to, people to trust, people that have my back in tough situations, and when others would disrespect any of us, we would defend each other." I said.

"Are you trying to point out everything I don't have?" Naruto said little angry and sad.

"I just feel like everybody should have someone to defend, and trust, and when I saw that no one was there for you, I felt like I needed to be that person." I said truthfully.

"I just can't believe it takes an outsider, a complete stranger to accept me, thank you Katashi." Naruto says.

"No problem." I grinned."friends?" I put my hand out in front of Naruto. He looked at me and then my hand, he looked surprised.

"Friends? Seriously?" He said with a hint of happiness. "Seriously."

Naruto smiled while shaking my hand. "Friends."

It's Monday now, I'm on my way to the academy. Yesterday I went to one of the weapon stores and bought a pouch of shuriken and other battle necessities, I also got a kuni holster, That is now strapped around my right thigh. I used money the Hokage lenses me since I've only just come here, and I don't make any money...

Today is the day, I'm not going to spaz out or kick a bruise on someone, I will be cool, calm, and collected. Who the hell am i kidding? No Katashi don't think like that, you'll only make it worse. But, what if something does happen? Worse than what i did to Kiba! I could be thrown in prison! Now your just being ridicules. No, no, no. I'm being completely rational.

I snapped to reality when I stumbled to the ground, did I walk into something?
"Hey! Watch where your going!" A pink haired girl shouted down at me. I guess I ran into some-one.

"I apologize miss, I uh was lost in thought." I said quickly looking into her mint eyes.

"Miss? That's so nice of you, who are you some kind of gentlemen?" She said with a squeaky voice and rosy cheeks. I stood up, I noticed I'm about an inch taller than her.

"I um, I'm just sorry about running into you-"wait I know you! Your the new guy in my class! Where you headed?" She asked.

"To the academy." I answered. "Thirty minutes early?" She asked confused. "I don't have anything better to do." I replied.

"Hmm, well, I'll see you in class then." She said walking away.

"Wait! What's your name!" I asked her. "It's Sakura." She answered.

I'm finally at the academy, sitting at my desk, I still cant believe they leave all the doors unlocked this early.
