Katashi

The sky turned to nightfall. The cold wind whistled throughout the trees. The air smelt of wet earth and the strong scent of iron from freshly spilled blood.

I stood in the doorway of what seemed like a vacant
home. The moon behind me shined on my back, casting my shadow into the house. As I stepped forward, the only sound I could hear was the creaking of the floor boards beneath me.

The moon was my only source of light, I could barley make out the shapes of household objects. I saw a shadowy figure flicker in the corner of my eye. Someone was Hiding, and I had found them.

I gripped on tightly to the handles of the short blades I wielded. I let out a deathly breath as I continued throughout the house. I entered another room, I could hear faint sniffles, cries for help.

I pitied whoever was alone in this house with me. No one is coming to save them, no one will hear them when they scream. They will only be forgotten on this hour of bloodshed.

I now stood before a
Door, I could clearly hear rapid breathing behind it. My hand rested upon the silver handle, turning it and opening the door I saw a girl with a tear stained face, she looked to be about my age. She had short emerald hair that was slightly matted, I could just barely see her aqua eyes through it.

She was quite beautiful, and she looked like she wouldn't hurt anything, but I had a job to do. I raised my arm, wielding my weapon I pointed it at the defenseless girl. I watched as her eyes widened.

I closed my eyes and sliced the knife through the air. "Stop!" I heard the girl demand abruptly. I opened my eyes to see that I did stop, the blade only inches from her pale nose.

"Katashi." She whispered with great fear.

My eyes widened as she called me by my name. How does she know me? Who exactly is this girl? "Why did you leave us?" Her frail voice asked me.

I stared blankly into her eyes, I didn't know how to answer that, I don't even know her. "Katashi, come back, please." Her last sentence echoed over and over again inside my head. Everything went pitch black, I could no longer see the emerald haired girl.

The invisible surface under my feet disappeared and I felt as if I were falling. My body slammed into something hard, I could no longer move or breathe.

I jolted up gasping for air, cold sweat droplets dripping down my forehead and the sides of my face.
My lungs felt like they were going collapse, my throat was dry, I couldn't speak.

Once my breathing steadied I took note of what the hell just happened. I realized that it was only a dream. It felt so real and vivid, I was reminded of what I did when I was in the hidden mist village, I'm guessing that girl was only my self conscious telling me to go back to who I was before I knew who I was.

It scared me, I could still smell the nose cringing scent of blood. I ran my hand through my hair and sighed. At least it's all over now.

It is all over now.

I spotted the head band I received yesterday on my bedside table, it reminded me that I'm going to be put into a team today. I wonder what it will be like, going on missions, making two other life long friends, and learning new Jutsu.
