Bumungad sa amin ang iilang mga tao ng makarating kami sa training ground. May iilang mga kababaihan pero mas marami ang mga kalalakihan.

So this is the rookies they're talking about? I can sense some people wielding strong magic, huh? Most of them are ages 20 and below.

I can see their bravery. Hindi madali ang pinapasok nila. Battling with demons isn't some kind of a child's play. I kinda feel sad for them. Being deprived of something they should have. I don't want these youths to go through the same way that I did. But if this is the path they have chosen, all I can do is to respect it.

They should've been enjoying their lives instead of going through such trainings and dangerous missions in their age. Participating in the war without even knowing what's gonna happen next shouldn't be their priorities. I mean, they're just kids for heaven's sake. I do hope that once this war was over, they still have the chance to do the things they couldn't do now. That's all what I've been praying for.

"Never let your guard down!"

"Stand up! Your resolves are weak! You'll be dead before you even know it!"

"Don't dilly-dally! Remember, you're in a fvcking war! You'll get in the way of others. Move!"

Abala ako sa panonood sa pagsusulit na ginagawa nila ng makaramdam ako ng presensiya mula sa aking likuran. Mabibilis na yabag ang naririnig ko at papalapit ito sa akin ng may pambihirang bilis.

A teenage man faced me fiercely wielding his sword. His attacks were fast. This guy's pretty gutsy, huh? Too bad, I can hear his movements. Ilag lang ako ng ilag sa bawat atake niya. 

"Don't lower your elbows." Payo ko sa kaniya habang patuloy pa ring umiiwas.

He has the quality and the ability to be trained under our supervisions. He has great potential but...

"Don't underestimate me. Fight me with everything you've got!"

Naningkit ang mga mata ko. I can tell how irritated he is right now. For some reason, I can see Linus in him. They're quite alike. His irritation will be the end of him.

"Then be my guest." I said calmly. Let's see what you can do, rookie.

Huminga siya ng malalim bago inayos ang pustura. He lowered his body and raised up his sword.

Wait! I know that stance. His next move is probably a single strike.

"I'll end this in one strike! Arsanian Style: Vertical Ray of Light!"

He's really fast. In one moment he's already in mid-air executing his move. Binalot ng nakasisilaw na liwanang ang buong paligid. It took a while for the place to turn back to normal. I know he's smiling. Don't be so sure about yourself, young man. It takes more than that to surpass my senses.

Nang tuluyang nawala ang liwanag, walang emosiyon ko siyang tiningan habang nasa itaas pa rin. Napangisi ako ng biglang nawala ang mga ngiti niya. Ang kaninang iritado niyang mukha ay mas naging iritado ngayon.

"Is that the best you can do? Are you sure that you're not shaming the name of the Arsanias?"

Nanlalaki ang mga mata at hindi makapaniwalang napatingin siya sa akin.

"W-what? I put all of my magic in that one strike. Not to mention that it's the fastest attack of the Arsanian style yet....she stopped it? With just her two fingers?" Mas lalo akong napangisi sa reaksiyon niya.
