Chapter 18

Both the murders of Peter Cart and William Snowdown were solved efficiently. The murderers along with their co-partners in the killings were arrested following the orders of the higher officials for further proceedings. Detective James and Bob Klensky were appreciated for their work. After everyone left, Detective James, Bob, Laura and Gerald remained in the room.

"Pardon me, Detective, for not believing your words," Laura said apologetically.

"It's not a big deal Miss. No worries." He said.

"Thank you Detective, you actually saved my girl from them." Gerald thanked him. "Laura, let's leave." They both gave their well wishes to both Detective and Bob. Before closing the door, Detective calls out to Gerald, "Gerald, are you an orphan?" 

He was quite shocked at the sudden question of his." Yes, I was, but not now." He said smilingly. And they left.

That night, at the Snowdown mansion. Gerald and Laura tossed their wine glasses enjoying a quiet, peaceful time. Laura rose from her seat, walking towards the window and staring at the full moon.

"You seem happy, happy that everything got placed rightly." Gerald commented.

"You read me very well, my boy. The moon is always a symbol of love and happiness. But for me, full moon is when mysterical creatures accomplish what they need." Laura turns back, "just like me."

"Just like us! That's how it is supposed to be."

Laura drinks a mouthful of wine and comes to her boyfriend, leaning towards him. She lifts his chin and tilting her head, presses her lips on his, releasing the sweet yet sour liquid into his mouth who gulps it down hungrily.

"Enjoy the shared victory!" She smirked. "If I hadn't been on your side, I probably would have the same fate like Peter Cart and my dad."

"No doubt." Gerald said looking straight into her eyes. "Everything was part of my plan, starting from my distant aunt's marriage to Kevin and falling in love with you. All part of my devious planning." 

Laura occupies the seat next to Gerald and she empties her glass. Gerald continues, "Only if I hadn't known the truth about you, you would have met the same fate just like your father." He takes a sip from his wine glass," William Snowdown, the one who killed my parents'...my dad trusted his co partner and yet, he cheated him. But destiny was with me, orelse on the very same day, I wouldn't have gone to my grandparents. The goons sent by your dad mistook my foster brother to be me and killed him." 

"Dad never knew your father supported a foster child. Orelse your devious plan would have been a total failure baby." Laura laughs wickedly.

"Thanks to my sweetheart, you made my job easier. Never thought I would have my enemy's daughter as my partner in both ways.After knowing you and your grudge towards him, I finally started loving you."
